hey. everyone who likes my writing. go read everything by Becky Chambers. I have gotten through all the available audiobooks of her work and it is extremely good and you would like it. All of it is built on chains of vignettes that knit together in a beautiful way that leaves you emotional by the end. There were two times that the Wayfarers books made me tear up. The Monk and Robot books have given me an idle fantasy of becoming a Tea Monk one day. The characters are Real in a quality that I aspire to write. Above all else, the books are hopeful, even when bad things happen; the galaxy keeps on spinning, and people keep getting through as best as they can.

do you have like a favourite design for ruiz/any other of your characters?? like certain traits ppl give them that you rly like. or do you... just not care at all

it’s more that I try not to canonise too much about my characters. when writing I don’t really conceptualise them as entities as distinct from the words that they say. not to say I have aphantasia or anything but it is less about the visuals and more about their vibes and interactions with others

I like seeing lots of different interpretations of my characters! I would not want to accidentally tell someone that their idea of what a character looks like is “wrong”. so long as the vibes are right it’s all good with me

Is Green capable of understanding that other humans have emotions or can he not get that through his thick skull. I hate that man with my soul. (I love him<3 thanks for making him)

green has great emotional intelligence. he understands why and how people are driven by their emotions and likely to do things. this is actually a big part of why he is so good at his job! he is just taciturn
