As a White Male

I apologize to the families, mine included that will most likely lose their healthcare in January.

I apologize to my latino friends who will be subjected to intense hatred and bigotry over the next four years, many families will probably be deported and broken apart.

I apologize to my African-American friends who, if they thought police and community relations were bad before, will have to wait for years for any real change in this effort to deal with the increased threat of unprovoked violence.

I apologize to my LGBTQ friends who will not only be targeted by invasive state and federal policies but might actually lose their right to marry the person that they love.

I apologize to my friends who have had loved ones stolen by gun violence, we are still making progress at the state level but will have to continue to fight for the change that we want to see in this country.

I apologize to my female friends, who will have the government in their personal lives and health for years. The repeal of Roe vs Wade is a very real possibility now and it is terrifying to all of us.

I apologize to my muslim friends who will now be targeted, harassed, and abused simply because of their religion. Deportation also remains a strong possibility.

I know that the world will go on. People will fall in love and get married. Babies will be born, loving and caring families will be created. People will laugh again. People will enjoy all the beauties that life brings. Today it is hard but it will be up to all of us to make sure that we recognize and build the America that we want to live in.

Which Rock Star Will Historians of the Future Remember?

The most important musical form of the 20th century will be nearly forgotten one day. People will probably learn about the genre through one figure — so who might that be?

A few thoughts about the Nevada Democratic Convention.

1. Sexism, bigotry, and hatred have no place in the Democratic party or the Progressive movement. There is plenty of space for those views over in the Trump Party. Death threats, harassment, and bullying have no place in our political process at all.

2. There is a subset of ‪#‎FeeltheBern‬ that embraces anarchy and nihilism. These are people who have put their protest votes in for Ron Paul and Gary Johnson in the past and are emboldened by their new status in American politics. They don't seek to engage in the political process, they seek to blow it up. Chaos is the name of the game and violence is justified if necessary.

3. Hillary won Nevada, therefore she should be awarded more delegates. This entire ordeal was over 2 delegates.

4. #FeeltheBern should take some time off and just watch CSPAN for a week. Procedure does not equal dictatorship and yelling louder during a voice vote doesn't mean that you won the vote.

5. Roberta Lange probably should have called for a recorded vote after the contested voice vote. Although it probably wouldn't have changed anything.

6. If this continues all the way to Philadelphia, you can lay the blame for a Trump Presidency squarely at the feet of the Democratic-Socialist Senator from Vermont.

Why Hillary Clinton should choose Cory Booker for VP (other than  him being an intelligent, energetic, young, likable, qualified candidate)

1) Diversity on the Ticket: Any ticket with the first women presidential candidate is already going to be diverse but a rising star African-American Senator (only the 9th in history) would only add to it. African-American support has carried Hillary Clinton to the nomination. Senator Booker is popular amongst nearly all democrats but especially in the AfAm community. I suspect President Clinton will commit to criminal justice reform within her first 100 days in office and I can't think of any better person to lead that battle than the former mayor of Newark.

2) Liberal: Hillary is going to pick a more liberal Veep candidate to shore up Bernie supporters. And outside of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie, no one excites the neo-left base of the party like Cory Booker. His addition to the ticket should encourage Bernie supporters still bitter from the primary but don't want to see President Trump to get to the polls.

3) New Jersey: Choosing a ticket consisting of Senators only from New York and New Jersey usually wouldn't make a lot of sense. But nothing about this election has made a lot of sense. Donald Trump has bragged about his candidacy putting states like New York and New Jersey in play for the Republicans. I don't know if this is true or not but don't want to take the chance. A Clinton/Booker ticket should lock down NY/NJ and hopefully similar areas like Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania.

Now, I know the popular inside the beltway pick for VP has long been Julian Castro. I understand this pick but don't see it mobilizing non-hispanic casual voters. Hispanic and Latino Americans are going to be united against Donald Trump in this fight with or without Castro on the ticket. Other rumored candidates like Tim Kaine or Sherrod Brown are popular amongst politicos but when facing Trump (a master at media manipulation) Hillary can't be yo-yum with this pick, it has to make a splash.
