LIVING LEGENDS -- Aug, 2017 -- Among the elite brotherhood of snowmobiling’s founding fathers, only two remain alive today, Crosby-Ironton’s own Glen Gutzman (92) and Dick Harrison (84), both of Trail-A-Sled, Inc., later Scorpion Snowmobiles (where they served as President and Secretary-Treasurer respectively). Together, Glen and Dick, and a handful of visionaries in the 1950's and early 1960's birthed what today is an enormous industry, generating over $28 billion annually ... the sport of snowmobiling. Many of the industry's earliest innovations and breakthroughs were crafted right here in Crosby-Ironton, by Trail-A-Sled, Inc.'s founders, Glen, Dick, Eugene "Stub" Harrison (deceased) and the determined men and women of the Cuyuna Lakes. – This heartwarming photograph was taken this past August, during a ceremony at the Soo Line Depot Museum in Crosby, Minnesota. During the ceremony, an ensemble of extremely rare Scorpion memorabilia was donated to the museum by Kraig Burdick, Shawn Clark Hamdorf and Brent Rider – To the right of this photograph is a one-of-a-kind Scorpion prototype from 1963, donated by Gutzman and Harrison to the museum in 1980, where it remains on display to this day.
