Takahashi Rumiko and Ranma in particular was my first exposure to anime that I enjoyed. But reading the manga there's always these moments where I take a step back and say "You know, if I had no idea what was going on this would be pretty weird." Sharing food has strong connotations in Japanese society: not for nothing is the topic of 'darling will eat MY food' the subject of jokes in many shows.

That's not what's happening here, though.  Godai's just trying to remember who's trying to poison him this week.

Did you know that if you say Godai's given name in just the right way he has a seizure?  Ibuki just found out and is having fun with it.

I could read her monologues all day.  Out of everyone in Maison Ikkoku, she is by far the most overwrought and melodramatic.  Which is saying something.

For once she's not talking about Godai and his landlady.  This is actually from an argument about shipping.

That having been said, thank you, Ibuki, for showing up and providing an excuse for an excellent visual gag and apparently prompting Godai to kidnap a small child.

On the one hand, Maison Ikkoku is less about humor than Ranma One-Half and Urusei Yatsura, meaning that I have to look harder for the gags.  But on the other hand, then I get to share tender little moments like this.  So I think I'm okay with that.
