Today marks five years since I went into the tiny hardware shop to collect my order of two broom handles and when I walked into the shop, the shopkeeper recognised me and simply held out the two broom handles I had ordered without saying a word.
Except that this is a lie.
I had not been in before. I had not ordered two broom handles. I had not mentioned two broom handles. I had not browsed the broom handle section, if such a thing there even was. Two broom handles was simply what I had entered the shop to buy but five seconds previously. And the shopkeeper was ready and waiting with two broom handles and knew that they were what I sought with not a word exchanged.
Five years ago today, I think I met a wizard in a tiny Welsh hardware shop.

i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa

every day I give thanks for the fact that the performer getting interview and podcast spots to talk about rocky hailmary is a latino gay person who a) has heard of gender and b) knows how to analyze a fucking script. imagine what kind of world we could be living in if they'd recast rocky's voice with an average hollywood A-lister and we were hearing their takes instead. we could be in actual biblical hell right now.
