Born in 1970 in Kumamoto, Japan, Ohya began his career at the Miyake Design Studio after graduating and later launched his own brand, Ohya Design Zoo Co Ltd. His designs are known for their futuristic energy and poetic elements, seamlessly blending conceptual art with fashion. Referencing popular culture, especially Japanese manga, Ohya often critiques the superficiality of the fashion industry, challenging traditional boundaries. "Though influenced by designers like Vivienne Westwood, Comme des Garçons, and Yohji Yamamoto, Miyake had the greatest impact on me, teaching me to always pursue innovation," Ohya reflects.

His work raises important questions: when did the line between art and fashion begin to blur, and how can we foster innovation by merging different  industries even further?
