Large Emerald (Geometra papilionaria)

This moth flies at night between June and August and inhabits moors and woods.  Its wingspan is between 50 and 65mm.

Madagascan sunset moth (Chrysiridia rhipheus).  The colour of its wings does not come from pigments, but rather optical interference.

Comet moth or Madadascan moon moth (Argema mittrei).  This impressive moth has a wingspan of 20cm and a tailspan of 15cm.  The imago does not feed and lives only up to 5 days.

Giant Leopard Moth or Eyed Tiger Moth (Hypercompe scribonia) - this moth is so determined not to get eaten, not only does it have colouring that suggests foul taste or toxicity, it also secretes an unpleasant yellow liquid from its thorax when disturbed.
