ayla:
“ maybe NOT — but you still are the main source of entertainment around here. besides, you can’t run drills forever. ” drills only went so far in the real game, or so she’s been told by her father and brother. it’s not surprising they haven’t dug into the meat of plays and structure yet, not when they’re still getting the team to gel together and there’s still six long weeks to go. still, ayla’s itching to shoot something reminiscent to a game, her comfort-level with her new camera growing exponentially each day. “ c’mon — are you really going to sit here until the ball tells you what to do or do you want to go do something ?? ”
“ oh yeah? tell that to coach. ” after losing to the ragtag team of volunteers, his coach hadn’t been happy. they’ve run through so many drills that he barely looked forward to practices. at some points, he has considered whether he should have gone down the basketball route instead. he sighed, knowing ayla was right. “ like what, then? sneak into town? ” it wasn’t a serious suggestion, mostly said to appease ayla.
