Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965--51 years ago. His life journey has profoundly impacted my own, influencing my understanding of what it means to be a Blackman, my decision to embrace Islam, my last name, and my commitment to the cause of Afrikan peoples. Read his biography, read and listen to his speeches, and learn lessons. Today in Oakland, i will speak on his relationship with media and the leasons we can learn today: Oakland Islamic Community Center, 7901 Oakport St, Oakland CA. #ReclaimMalcolmX #MalcolmX #ElHajjMalikElShabazz

#UJAMAA essays on socialism articulates the governing philosophy of 1960s Tanzania. This book includes the 1962 "Ujamaa-The Basis of African Socialism" and "The Arusha Declaration," as well as "Socialism is not Racialism" and "Education for Self-Reliance." These anti-imperialist anti-capitalist essays deeply impacted my analyses and practices while in TZ nearly 4 years ago. A mentor told me to read it 7 years ago, but i was stubborn and lacked scholarly discipline. For those seeking alternatives to individualism and white supremacy capitalism would benefit from reading the words of Mwalimu (teacher) Julius Nyerere. Also, learning more about the Ujamaa Villages should be mandatory for Pan Africanists and Afrikan Planners. #rasheedsreads #Kwanzaa

No one is going to give you the education you need to overthrow them. Nobody is going to teach you your true history, teach you your true heroes, if they know that that knowledge will help set you free.
