Some of my lock picks came in :3
Do all photographers know what they are doing?
I feel like such an imposter because I don't really know about settings on camera etc. and if I get an amazing shot it's one in a hundred and then the editing progress is just fuck around and find out lol
I know I have a visual eye for the "composing" of objects but that's about it.
Then there's amazing photographers like you whose every picture is so amazing, editing of the colors is hecking neat and the photos make me feel some kinda way.
Sorry for the vent 🫣😭 maybe I was going somewhere with it but I got lost. Maybe I wanted to ask if you've gone to school about photography or just self taught?
Thank you I really appreciate it 🤍
no when I started I had no idea what I was doing at all. I never went to school for photography, I’m a high school dropout 😅
I learned half on my own and half on YouTube. I’d say YouTube can teach you much better than any classes could honestly. You can pick from so many different creators that teach in different ways.
As for getting the colors and looks you like you should look at how others edit their photos and take note of the settings they use. Most are gonna use Lightroom to edit so it’s pretty easily copied. You can get a good feel for how people get the looks and colors by doing it one setting at a time. Once you get it down and understand how it works you can make your own unique looks.
If you’re shooting in automatic you should try getting into aperture priority first. It’s like automatic but you use a set aperture and the camera will adjust to the available light to use the correct settings to make it work. Once you get that down you can experiment with full manual. I promise manual isn’t that difficult and it’s a lot of fun.
The way I go about shooting in manual is using a low iso setting, usually the lowest I can get away with. I get the aperture set to the right amount of focus range or background separation. All the exposure is controlled by the shutter speed at that point. So it’s pretty simple at that point just using one dual and just watching the light meter. Sometimes the camera lies and you’ll have to adjust higher or lower than the camera says. When that happens you can just take a photo and look at it yourself. If it’s too bright you just increase the shutter speed and if it’s too dark just lower it.
The only time you’ll have to adjust the iso is if you get too low of a shutter speed and the shots come out blurry. What I do when that happens is I set my aperture to 100 and then watch the light meter as I increase the iso and just set it to whatever it says is correct for the lighting. You’ll see what I mean when you get to it. It looks all complicated but it’s really simple.
Do you like getting asks? And do you have a preference on what people ask/talk to you about here?
Yeah asks are pretty fun. No I don’t have a preference but if I don’t feel like answering something then I won’t.
Edit: I won’t talk about anything political.
