it's so deeply exhausting watching people casually treat gifmakers like they're robots built to pump out content for a fandom on demand. reposters will see a gifset on their dash and act like it just appeared out of thin air with a single click of a button, having absolutely zero understanding of the actual time and effort it takes to create them.
gifmakers do this entirely for free.99 just because they genuinely love the media and want to share with the community. they are quite literally the main backbone keeping fandoms alive yet they get met with the most blatant disrespect. people will see something that took real labor to make, save the files, and shamelessly repost them to twitter or even to their own blog here on tumblr. then the second they get called out for stealing, they wanna get defensive and drop that tired "you don't own this media" line. like obviously nobody owns the source material but the actual time spent downloading/recording a video, sharpening, and meticulously coloring all those frames does belong to the gifmaker.
people will casually drain a gifmaker's energy and completely take advantage of their labor for their own engagement and that parasitic, entitled attitude is exactly why so many gifmakers just shut down their blogs or quit gifmaking entirely. people want to treat creators like a drive thru where they can just take what they want and go instead of treating them like actual humans and then get shocked when the whole fandom goes dry because they drove away the only people actually keeping the lights on.
very excited to watch another season of beautiful women and some random niggas they found at a gas station
