Eldritch horror box/book is now complete! That shimmer paint is soooooo goood in person. Pictures don’t even begin to capture it really!

Restoration project - the formerly shattered tree has now been repaired and today involved the colour matching to blend the repairs in. Pretty pleased!
Latest painterly project - turning this boring, bare wooden letter rack into something a little more fun.
Stainless steel captive rivoli gleaming in the sun today. It’s been a while since I’ve worked with stainless, and my hands are letting me know as much! Still, it was fun. This design is ‘Entrapment’ by HyperLynks.

My contribution to the ‘art v artist’ thing going around on Instagram and other platforms, featuring mail making, engraving, carving and inlay (WIP), and sculpting and painting. And a weirdo with a half-finished knife in the middle...
Sage charm bottle for all your witchy needs...
Well! What a week!! I did a post over on my Patreon with lots of detail on how this was done, and the fox itself isn’t finished - he needs more sculpting and shaping, and some fur and the like, but this was a SUPER challenging project for me, with LOTS of techniques involved, from engraving-type chiselling to inlay and sculpting etc., and blending the inlay into the recessed carving of the back end of the fox was really tricky.Â
Anyway, this is where he’s at after five days of intensive chiselling, and I’m about to faceplant into bed (with a raging storm outside!) at 8pm because I’m mentally burned out and exhausted...!Â
(this is actually the reverse of the ginkgo tsuba I’ve posted before).
Abfnkavsja dude???? You make wicked rad stuff, not to mention it's inspiring me to pick back up my tools and wire to make some of my own for the first time in many years!!
I’m so sorry I’ve only just seen this!!! I’m so happy you want to create!! Do come and ask me any questions you have - probably best to reach me over on @monstersandmaw if you want a more immediate reply...!!
Day one of the Japanese metalwork course is over! Meet the beginning of my inlaid kitsune-kun!
Oh yeah, it’s that time of the year again, and I’m signing up for Round Two! Gonna aim to finish the novel this year!!!!!!Â
Yesterdays inlay and tsuba (sword guard) doodlings. The design in the annotated tsuba doodle should be flipped, because it’s for the reverse of the tsuba, and therefore the design needs to show when it’s sitting against the person’s hip, so the design should be on the left hand side, as it is in the second drawing with the actual tsuba shown.Â
The design for the fish pendant comes from a fuchi in the Met.Â
Some doodles, new and old. The top photo is a compilation of character doodles from Weaver of Threads, found in my book of scribblings in preparation for NaNoWriMo 2018. The bottom one is just random old drawings and paintings I found during a recent clear out. :)
Today’s polymer makes: sage charm bottle and leaf pendant, and a prototype acer leaf hair slide.
Today’s make! A slinky, continuous roundmaille bracelet.
