I don't know about everybody else, but I am genuinely starting to get sick of the misogyny in fandom spaces.
The God of War Laufey gameplay trailer came out just yesterday- and I was genuinely so hyped. Not only was the combat and visuals an absolute masterpiece, but the lore potential was insane. The mask Faye looked at was the mask Odin was trying to look through- meaning Odin was trying to study the 'Everywhen'/Afterlife of the gods. There's crossovers between different mythologies- and not only that, but we get to see HER memories of Kratos from HER perspective. We get to see her life- her legacy- from HER perspective. Not just her best traits- but also her flaws, her deeper thinking, her fears, and perhaps even a further look into her life before she met Kratos. But the MINUTE I hop on YT or social media? Every video and their mother is yelling "WAAAAAHHHH THIS ISN'T REAL GOD OF WAR BECAUSE THE MAIN CHARACTER IS A WOMAN, THIS IS FORCED DIVERSITY" The mere existence of a woman protagonist to you is 'forced diversity?'
I'm genuinely sick of people doing this. Y'all did this with Ghost of Yotei. Y'all did this with Supergirl. Y'all did this with MJ in Spiderman 1 and 2's Insomniac games because she was an important character. Y'all did this with almost ANY character who was a minority in literally ANY way, shape or form- and it's genuinely exhausting to see. If y'all don't like the upcoming God of War game because you prefer the source material? Okay- fine. Just as people are allowed to like things, people are also allowed to dislike things.
But if you don't like it JUST because Faye's a woman? Feel free to block and unfollow me- I don't give a damn. Because that's not an 'opinion,' that's just straight up sexism. If you call the existence of a realistically written woman main character in a game 'forced diversity,' it'd be easier for you to say that you consider women accessories or novelties and not actual fucking people.
Female protagonists and protagonists that are minorities in video games should be normalized- and the fact that people are still throwing hissy fits over them in the big 2026 is genuinely sad.
Is there like some sort of unholy pact amongst triple A game studios that dictates that whenever they make a game with a female lead or a diverse cast they have to flip a coin and if it lands on tails they have to increase the rate of annoying quirky dialogue that barely anyone likes by ten and then showcase it in the advertising so that investors can point to the diminished interest and act like that’s proof that women and diversity doesn’t sell well.
Laufey: I mean it's a place where gods go when they die, so there can't be that many gods in it, right?
Her in-laws: I am here to ruin everything.
God of War Laufey thoughts.
So excited for this game, and wanted to share my first thoughts.
Is the afterlife of the gods going to be something like the MCU's Void, a mix-match of gods from different pantheons each wanting territory?
The two antagonists we see are Begtse, the Mongolian god of war, and Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess of war.
In Egyptian Mythology, Sekhmet was created to punish humans for no longer respecting him, but she went too far and nearly wiped them out.
In this universe, was she killed by Ra when he got a change of heart and she refused to stop and was sent here?
Are we going to see other slain gods from different mythologies?
Like Tiamat, Baldur, Izanami, etc?
We see two gods of war, and I can't help but wonder if we're going to see more of them, like they're the most aggressive of the bunch.
Which would lead Faye to see how much of an outlier Tyr was.
And ofc, are we going to see Athena in this, another war goddess and one of the biggest ghosts that haunt the narrative?
And if so, will this game not only be the focused on Laufey but opening up to the larger lore of the God of War universe?
I hope so.
You don't know the 1/2 of it!
The Greek Gods when they see a new arrival to the God afterlife and hear her mention her husband Kratos:
Okay I heard “afterlife of the gods”, so that means at least one Greek god is going to show up in the new Laufey game, right?
people are already crying that we won't be playing as kratos and woman is a main character lmao
bitch who outsmarted gods, planned a rebellion, protected her people and was recognized for her strength/fighting skills by thor and kratos doesn't deserve her own game, yeah sure
ADVENTURE IS CALLING...

The reason the party can't keep rerolling checks is because skill checks are an in-game non-renewable resource. Skill miner spend long hours digging them out in the mines.
Me, shaking my head at the collapsed mine: "Dammit. Skill issue."
Most popular Jack the Ripper theories from ripperologists just blame immigrants, but personally I think it was British empire soldiers...guys who'd just come back from committing massacres in Africa and Asia and figured, why stop now?
The British army committed tons of mutilations during the massacres they committed in colonial times. Removing breasts and mutilating uteruses has been recorded before. In India, in Kenya etcetera.
It's silly to think Jack the Ripper was just some random blue-collar worker from Poland instead of a soldier who probably just came back from the Xhosa Wars, for example.
And Xhosa Wars happened about a decade before the first Whitechapel murder.
One of the theories posits a Malay ship cook as Jack the Ripper. It's so stupid. True crime people are so stupid. This is the era when the British, Dutch, and French etc were committing mass violence across half the world. No one bothers to think about the implications of such a culture of violence and how it would influence their own capital's culture. This is London during the height of colonial plunder.
Not one true crime enthusiast wants to suggest that maybe the serial killer used to be an annihilator of an Indigenous tribe.
Instead, we get a Malay cook. Or a Polish immigrant. Or a Jewish butcher. Always the outsider. Never the bloke who learned his trade in the Xhosa Wars, came back to Whitechapel, and just kept going.
