Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/Mystique in new ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer

Frank sat there on his lawn with Mark, the coyote was howling at anyone or thing that came within ten feet of Frank. “Mark settle down. The man growled laughing as a kid crashed his bike looking at the wild animal in the mans front yard. “Beat it kid. He’ll eat you if you look at him too long. ” Frank looked around as he laughed Nobody is ever gonna come if you leave Mark out to do your scaring. He laughed Frank sat out here every day for months with his shot gun and a rifle next to him. He hated when punks would come up and deface his property so he took to leaving dangerous weapons out on his stoop to protect himself.
There was a man, sitting on top of the green grass with a coyote on his side. The little thing kept howling at whatever came close, which was more than inconvenient for someone who was trying to take a nice walk around and not attract any not-so-subtle looks. There was almost literally no one in that area so she didn't even have to bother changing her appearance but when the animal began to growl at any walking thing he came across, Mystique had an idea.
Shifting into the form of a white wolf, she slowly approached the man and his pet, careful not to scare them and end up getting shot. Her paws were quiet against the ground, her breathing nearly imperceptible and once she found herself close enough to the stranger, his back turned to her, completely oblivious, Raven howled at the coyote, their proximity causing the creature to jump, along with his owner. Before the mysterious guy could point the gun at her, she turned back, bursting out laughing and stepping away from the two targets of her joke that stared at her in shock.
Usually she knew better than to play around like that, but the idea of pissing the human off seemed too appealing to ignore and frankly, her day was incredibly boring and they came as a nice opportunity to change it.
Blame The Player // Mystique & Carol
It was on one of those slow days that hardly ever happened that Raven found her new person of interest. The quest for new potential allies to the Brotherhood was on and although decisions usually involved Erik's input, she knew he wasn't against her bringing home friends. They were creating an army, after all. The more, the merrier. She'd make sure to use her persuasion skills to lure the target in and as time went by, if she didn't support their values yet, she'd come to her senses. Mystique had been watching her for awhile now, always masked, always undercover, contemplating whether or not the girl was worth pursuing. It didn't take much for her to realize she was indeed a little mine of gold, gold that she could not wait to get her hands on.
As she walked out of the shadows, Raven's blue skin disappeared, replaced by a new human coat, her curled blonde hair brushing against her shoulders. What some might look at as beautiful now was all but an ability to her favor, to be used and discarded, never there long enough to make her forget who, what, she really was and never there long enough for her to want to. The only noise she'd heard was of her heels clicking on the wet floor and glancing at the night sky for a brief second, she breathed in, out, closing her eyes and only opening them again to look at the person who had obviously been following her.
"I was starting to think you've gotten bored of me." A smile colored her mundane features and she clicked her tongue, looking around. There were a few people a few feet away from them, in front of the restaurant the so called Jessica was dining in but they couldn't hear their exchange if they wanted. It'd take a loud noise to get them to look, someone screaming or the beginning of a catfight.
She wasn't looking forward to it but the blonde stood between her and the girl and that was enough to get her going.
"Nothing personal, course..." Raven tilted her head to the side as if waiting for the woman to give her a name but gave her no time to do so as she continued talking. "... Jane or whatever your name is. You look like a Rebecca. But either way, I don't have the time to know why you're following me, I have business to take care of. So if you could just scoop, I'd be glad." It was more than clear she was not about to scoop anytime soon but if anything went down, at least Mystique would be able to say she tried to take the higher road. It wasn't as if she didn't know who the little stalker was, "superheroes" tended to go under the spotlight. The exact reason she used not to convince her to join in was that nearly everything about the girl screamed "peace-maker". She wasn't interested in peace.
Nor was she interested in fighting her own kind but if the situation called for it, she wasn't one to turn her back.

Freedom's Cost // Mystique & Magneto
A part of her was on the verge of turning back and apologizing, hiding her face in the crook of Charles' neck and crying. He'd represented so much to her over the years, almost the only person who seemed to accept her and God, love her, despite what she once believed was a foul appearance. He'd given her food, shelter, given her hope when she was hopeless and even now, walking away and Raven knew that'd never be forgotten. That part of her would always resent this choice, but the other one was much stronger. In a way, it wasn't only pain as she distanced herself from her dear friend, a determined soldier on her side. It was also a sense of freedom, liberty she never knew before. There were no obstacles as she walked. There was no need for cautiousness, for fear. It was almost as if she could do everything she wanted. Like this was the beginning of a life that revolved around her and not the desire to please people, to fit in. As much as she loved Charles Xavier and always would, he could never give her that.
Erik, on the other hand, could and did.
She was still too naive to know what it meant, picking him, but she had a notion of how much this decision would change things. It would probably end up in a war, but she decided to think about it later and enjoy the "now". Truthfully, in her mind, everyone would end on the same side. They wouldn't have to fight. She wouldn't have to become Charles' enemy. She hoped so badly that it didn't happen that it honestly seemed like a realistic, solid fact.
They were all the same. Which made them family. And family stuck together, right? Maybe they wanted different things now, but who knows, one day...
Magneto had helped her open her eyes when she was blind to her beauty. He'd given her a new perspective and he'd handed her the option to stand up for herself and say whether she thought humans deserved her compassion or not. In more ways than one, he was the road to her true self, as cliched as that sounded. She was dangling over the edge, but he pushed her. God knows she might never dig her way out of the hole and embrace her existence had he not showed up. Maybe that's all Xavier needed. A push. They couldn't do it but perhaps, in time, humanity would.
"I..." The girl started, unsure. She had no courage to look up at Erik nor did she have an idea of what to say. She'd chosen him, now what? Should she say thanks? Hug him? It wouldn't be the first time they'd touch each other and it wasn't as if they weren't close enough to hold a conversation. It's just that it was too much happening in such little time, she could barely keep up. If Xavier were here, he'd likely wince at how messy her mind currently was. So she opted for the loudest question poking at her brain.
"Where do we go from here?"
And she was no mind reader, but for some odd reason, Mystique knew he had an answer.
Red Velvet | Magneto & Mystique
Erik’s finger traced an empty glass that sat on an end table next to him. He had quite a lot to think about, and not a lot of time before he had to act. The guilt of leaving his troops abandoned had finally left him. He had bigger fish to fry in New York now. He had only sent for his best men, and he hoped they wouldn’t get lost along the way…especially John. The boy was a wonder out on his own. He could turn over a small town with the right push, but this wasn’t the time to be dealing with petty antics. This was about turning the tides, and finally giving solid ground to the war he desperately needed to win.
Somehow he knew that Charles would be planning his next stage of attack (or lack thereof). He was well aware of the storm brewing on the western front, and he had no doubt that his precious X-Men would be lining up for defense. It wasn’t them he wanted to dismantle, it was the human race. If there was anything he desperately needed, it was the resources Charles had at his mansion. Xavier would never let his students off into battle unless they were his seasoned team. They had control and power they could understand, but didn’t continue pushing. The last time person from that school that attempted to become something greater was Jean Grey, and she had a power he couldn’t imagine brewing within dark corners of her mind.
He shuddered at the thought. He remembered Charles explaining what it felt like, and it was a beast he wished to one day meet. In the right circumstances, of course. Still, Erik smiled at himself. He was just biding his time until the strike, which would be soon. Mostly now he just waiting for the one person he wouldn’t fight without.
Luckily, that’s when he heard the door to the motel open. He sent his trustees the address through his encrypted network and knew she would be the first to arrive. He was surprised he managed to make it out of San Francisco without her.
“I would have stopped one of the safe houses, but with my name on all the government feeds not even they seem safe anymore,” He began as he heard the door shut again. “This isn’t so bad. Very quaint, quiet.”
His eyes rolled over to the door where he saw his blue companion standing and he smiled. Erik could never get tired of seeing her in her natural form. She was a creature of many faces, yet her etched skin and bright red hair never failed to impress him. Not that it needed to…but even in the awful, dim light of the incandescent lamp she was radiant.
Erik’s attention diverted to the arms of the chair, where he pushed himself upright and took a few steps forward. “Did the others receive my message, or did you not bother to pass it on?”
Human form was a drag, but a blue woman walking around in the streets attracted too much attention, even in New York. She had to be conspicuous, to say the least, since any slip would cause troops to come bursting through the door to get her behind bars. She was smarter than all of them, though and knew better. It would take much more than a bunch of people to stop her, to stop the Brotherhood, from doing what they were supposed to do, when they were supposed to do it. It didn't matter if they searched every corner of every place in town, they'd never find her unless she wanted them to. The thought was the only reason she held on to the appearance of a dark haired woman, with pale green eyes, one she'd seen not too long ago in a train, wearing a ridiculous orange T-Shirt. Whatever her name was, it wasn't crucial, now she served as a mask and a mask only. Raven didn't transform back until she was sure it was safe to do so.
Erik had been clear. She followed his instructions perfectly but couldn't be positive the others had done the same. They better, she thought. The plan was too good to be ruined by a few forgettable idiots and she was too excited about the idea of it working out to see it ruined. Though, frankly, she knew it probably wouldn't, as long as everyone stayed under the radar and completed their tasks flawlessly. Normally, she wouldn't give much of a damn if everyone else was following Magneto's orders, especially since she never disappointed him, which meant she was never the one to get yelled at. She viewed some members of the Brotherhood as children, with a whole lot of potential, but a long way to go. They were good and probably too smart to ignore what he demanded, but she had no time to worry about their baby-steps. Maybe it was a bit of arrogance on her part, but sometimes she even dared to believe she could do whatever Erik told her to, and do it all by herself. This time, though, it took much more than her. This time, they needed all the help they could get.
My, she couldn't wait.
"It'd be better if they changed the paint on these walls." The red-haired mutant murmured, closing the door behind her and staring at the man who calmly sat on a chair in the center of the room. "Blue is more of my color."
It was a bit offensive that now they came to a point where they needed to meet up in such... Non-classy places, due to the new label they received, with a huge "dangerous, do not approach" written on top of their faces with red marker. She'd knew about the Avengers already but everytime she thought about their actions, it annoyed her even more. What, some guy in a suit? Spies? What happened to the flying, fire spitting superheroes? Those people were jokes. It was absurd to think a huge green guy would wanna fight alongside humans to protect, go figure, a humanity that would chase him down with torches if he so revealed himself. Maybe Magneto was doing them a favor. Maybe they would figure it out later, when the cards were spread out on the table. See who really cares about who. And don't even get her started on S.H.I.E.L.D. Talk about pretension.
Captain America. God.
"And they did, yeah. I didn't answer any of their questions, though, so you might have to do that yourself. Sorry 'bout that." Mystique looked around the boring looking room and scrunched up her nose before turning her gaze back to him. There was undeniable affection in her eyes, along with immeasurable respect. She was willing to do whatever he asked her.
"Where do I come in?"
Join Me // Mystique & Jean (Drabble)
She watched the woman carefully before talking, her words slipping from between her lips as easily and fluidly as if they were well rehearsed lies, except this time her tactics involved a tad more honesty, especially since one of the redhead’s various skills was mind reading.
"I think… Well, you know what I think but I’ll say it anyway." She started, tilting her head to the side the slightest bit, yellow eyes focused intensely on the grey ones staring back. "There will come a point where your humans, your friends, whatever it is you like to call them, will turn their backs on you. They do it all the time to each other for the stupidest reasons, what would stop them from doing so to," Raven lifted her hands in the air and quoted, "aberrations. They’ve hated us from the moment they realized we existed. We didn’t get the opportunity to prove them wrong, did we now, before they started bombarding us with all kinds of ways to kill us. What I offer, what the Brotherhood offers, is a change. And not the sugar coated, human loving bullshit they’ve been trying to convince you of, we propose real change.”
A smile surged on her face, the contrast of white teeth against blue skin ever so obvious. Honesty was so disarming sometimes. In this case, it benefited her, but she made sure to create mental scenarios of the world they aspired to live in, just in case.
"Humanity doesn’t hate us, Jean, because we pose a threat." Her smile left her features as quickly as it came. "They hate us because we’re different. Why should we accept them, if they can’t do the same to us?"
The tall mutant placed a hand on top of her chest, where her heart laid and finally spoke:
"Join me."
((Just putting this out there because I enjoy doing drabbles and for me they help flesh out characters.))
((I’ll do any of these as well. For both Jean and Jemma))
Same for Bucky or Natasha
Applies to Tony as well.
Open for Mystique aswell.
