After Lilith left Eden, the story did not end with silence.

In the medieval Alphabet of Ben Sira, Adam cries out after her departure, and three angels are sent to retrieve her. Their names are Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof, and they do not find her hiding in shame. They find her at the Red Sea, beyond the garden, beyond obedience, beyond the world that tried to place her beneath Adam.

This detail matters.

Lilith had spoken the divine name, risen from submission, and crossed into exile by choice. The angels came with a command, yet Lilith answered with refusal. She would not return to the role chosen for her. She would not become lesser so another could feel whole. She would not trade freedom for peace inside a cage.

From there, the myth becomes protective lore.

The angels warned her of consequence, and Lilith became bound to a strange agreement. Wherever the names or images of Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof appeared, especially near mothers and infants, she would have no power to harm. This is why their names later appeared on amulets, birth charms, household inscriptions, and protective objects placed near the vulnerable.

To the old world, birth was a threshold.

A newborn had crossed from unseen waters into breath. A mother stood between blood, danger, creation, and spirit. The home became liminal, and liminal places needed protection. So the angels’ names were written like a boundary spell, a warning, a prayer, and a magical defence.

Yet Lilith was not erased by their arrival.

She became the force people named when life felt fragile, when night felt close, when the unseen pressed against the walls. Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof were written where life needed guarding, where infants slept, where women laboured, and where people believed a name could hold back the dark.

Lilith was powerful enough that even angels had to be dismissed beside her.

November 23rd is Wolfenoot, a holiday invented by a 7-year-old boy. It is when the Spirit of the Wolf brings and hides gifts around the house for all family members. Those who have been particularly kind to dogs get special gifts! On that day, you should eat roast meat (wolves' favorite food!) and a cake decorated like a full moon. After his mother posted his idea on social media, the event became viral! If you decide to start observing this holiday, post pictures using the hashtag #wolfenoot, so the little boy can see how his idea has spread.
