under the cut, if you please <3
Dew kept well on his word.
He watched the young quintessence, noticing how he stared longingly at the pack more often than anything else.
Dew hated it. What he hated more? His pack had let this young quint slip through the cracks.
Dew was sat in his chair at dinner, his knicked tail swaying in an agitated state as none of the pack even noticed their quint wasn’t at the table.
Rain, who was next to Dew, gently tangled his webbed tail with Dew’s.
“Droplet?” Rain murmured softly.
Dew blinked and looked over at Rain, huffing a bit.
“Aether would be so angry at us.” Dew muttered back. A look of pure confusion crossed Rain’s pretty face and he tilted his head, his webbed ear flicking a bit.
“I’m so angry at us.” Dew snarled, looking at the rest of the pack.
“You gotta talk to me, firebug,” Rain said softly, reaching out and placing his hand over Dew’s. Dewdrop looked over at Rain, sighing a bit.
“Aurora wasn’t our only summon.” Dew muttered. Rain’s eyebrows pinched and he looked towards the ghoulette before his eyes saddened.
“Oh, Lucifer….” Rain whispered, looking at Dew.
The fire ghoul nodded, standing up and grabbing his plate of untouched food, marching down the hall to the quint’s room, Rain not far behind.
He was cold. His quintessence was weak, it could hardly even spark to give him the smallest glamour. And he was tired.
Curled up in bed, somewhat gnawing on the spade of his tail, he stared at the wall.
His heart ached. He didn’t know how much longer he could do this. Both emotionally, and physically.
A shaky breath left the little quint and he closed his eyes, his body going slack as exhaustion took over.
Though, he startled as the door to his room suddenly opened, the two ghouls he knew the least about standing there.
The little quint inhaled shakily and weakly began pushing himself to sit up, his lilac eyes wide and filled with everything he was feeling.
“Oh, starlight,” Rain cooed softly, walking over and sitting next to the quint, helping him sit up. Dew swooped in to have the quint rest against his chest, seething with anger but pushing it down to help the quintessence ghoul.
Yeah, Aether would be so unbelievably pissed.
Rain gently took the plate from Dew and gathered some food on the fork, holding it up for the quint to eat.
Though, he was met with incredibly scared eyes. The young ghoul was like a deer in headlights, waiting for something to happen that would hurt him.
“It’s okay,” Dew murmured, wrapping his arms around the quint to warm him up. His heart nearly shattered when he felt how skinny this ghoul was. “You’re okay now.” He soothed.
The quint whimpered a bit, still very tense but starting to understand what was happening.
He looked at Rain, his lilac eyes watering a bit as the water ghoul still held the fork up to him. He leaned forward and took the bite, sobbing quietly as he tasted freshly made food. The young ghoul immediately relaxed and curled into Dewdrop’s embrace, his warmth seeping into his bones and finally making him feel safe.
“How long has this been happening, Starlight?” Dew asked softly, making sure the quint was listening to him when he spoke.
Lilac eyes looked up at Dew and stared for a moment before he shrugged a bit, fidgeting with his tail.
“Quint,” Rain said softly. “This is important.” The water ghoul insisted, giving the quint another bite of food and letting him chew and swallow it before expecting an answer. The young ghoul was quiet for another moment before he spoke.
“When you both got home from your trip.” The quint said quietly.
Rain’s eyes immediately flashed over to Dew’s the both of them realizing that it has been weeks.
“Is Aether back?” Rain asked immediately. Dew nodded. “Almost. He get’s back tonight. The plane out of Naples was delayed.” Dew stated.
Rain nodded.
“Lovebug, why don’t you come with us? We gotta go check out the med wing, yeah?” Rain said softly, urging the young ghoul to willingly get up and allow himself to be seen by the hospital ghouls, at least until Aether got back. The young ghoul looked at Rain, clearly very apprehensive over leaving his room, especially when the rest of the pack was in the den and would most definitely see him huddling close to the two ghouls he was least likely to be getting along with, or even be near.
“I like my room…” Quint murmured. Rain nodded in understanding, gently brushing the young ghoul’s shaggy black hair out of his eyes. “I like your room too.” Rain hummed. “You decorate yet or did you just find cool stuff from around the den?” Rain asked.
“I found stuff…” Quint mumbled. Dew hummed with a quiet chuckle, keeping the quint’s hair out of his eyes. “I did the same thing.” The fire ghoul said, amused. The quintessence ghoul looked up at Dew, tilting his head like a puppy experiencing something for the first time.
“How about those books?” Dew asked, tilting his chin over to the bookshelf in the corner of the room. The small ghoul looked over, looking at all the books before looking back at Rain and Dewdrop.
“I can’t read.” The quint murmured, leaning into Dew some more. Dewdrop looked at Rain, his eyebrows pinching a bit. Rain frowned, gently caressing the young ghoul’s cheek.
“That’s okay, lovely.” Rain soothed. “We can get that sorted soon, yeah?” Rain offered.
The young ghoul nodded and leaned into Dew even more.
“Alright, stardust,” Dew said softly. “Let’s get you to the hospital wing.”
The young quint sniffled a bit and nodded, weakly getting out of his bed and quickly latching onto Dew’s arm to stay close to his warmth. Dewdrop looked down at the young ghoul and held him close, keeping his clearly malnourished body warm and comfortable. Yet despite Dew’s effort, the quint’s tail dragged on the basement stone floor, keeping him rather cold.
Rain kept himself between the young ghoul and the rest of the pack’s gaze, knowing the quint was honestly more removed from the pack than he was connected, and being seen in this state would only make him feel worse.
Dew was incredibly angry with his pack. He and Aether had made it incredibly clear to welcome this new quint in despite their angst over Aether’s retirement. The older quint had made it very clear that he was still going to be around when the pack was at the ministry, just based in the hospital wing instead of the basement den, and his retirement was no reason to treat the new quint differently.
The pack has listened to Sunshine just fine and accepted Aurora, so what was so different with this young quint?
Hours later, Aether was worriedly looking over the young quint as he slept. Dewdrop was cuddled up to the young ghoul in the hospital bed, keeping his lithe body warm. Rain stood off to the side, watching the elder quintessence work.
“It’s been too long since he’s last eaten.” Aether grumbled, silently seething. He was incredibly angry with the pack, just like Dew and Rain knew he’d be. “His horns are stunted and his pulse is weak. He’s in the early stages of bond sickness.” Aether huffed, quintessence practically radiating off of him as he healed this young ghoul.
The elder ghoul continued grumbling to himself, angrily hissing about how Mountain and Cirrus, two of the eldest ghouls aside from Dew and himself, should have known better.
Lucifer, especially Mountain.
The elder ghoul had helped Dewdrop through bond sickness after his transformation. He knew the signs. He knew how easy it was for ghouls in pain to slip through the cracks when the rest of the pack was excited.
Aether had trusted Mountain to take on the role of pack leader, and he had failed so badly that a ghoul was teetering over the edge into danger of death.
“Aeth’….” Dew murmured. “Brooding isn’t going to help. You know Mount didn’t mean too..” The fire ghoul said softly.
“He’s not ready for this.” Aether grumbled, letting his quintessence pool in his clawed hands before he placed his palms over the young quint’s temples to let the healing energy seep into the ghoul’s system. “I trusted him with one bloody thing and our youngest is almost deteriorating. This would have never happened if it were me.” Aether snarled.
“He’s not you, Aether.” Dew said softly. “Nobody is you. But you retired because of how much stress you put on yourself to take care of us. None of us are wired the way you are, Aeth’.” The fire ghoul continued.
Aether was quiet for a moment before he huffed a bit and gently pushed the shaggy black hair out of the young quint’s eyes even though he was sleeping.
“Warm up a bit, Droplet. He’s cooler than I’d like.” Aether said softly to Dewdrop. The fire ghoul nodded, adjusting his internal temperature so the young ghoul would warm up.
Rain stepped up to the bed, gently caressing the pressure points above the young ghoul’s shoulders to keep him relaxed and asleep.
“How are we going to go about reintroducing him to the pack? He’s a nervous wreck and can’t even think about being in the same room as them.” Rain murmured, clearly wanting his elder ghoul’s guidance and opinion. Aether sighed and shook his head.
“I want him fed and rested before we even think about reintroduction. I think I want you and Dew to form a bond with him over the next week or so before we ask him about the others.” Aether explained, knowing this young ghoul to his core due to merging his quintessence with the young quint’s to understand what was wrong with him.
“So what you, Rain, and Mount did with me?” Dew asked. Aether nodded, leaning down and kissing Dew’s forehead, giving him a spark of quintessence to both keep him calm yet give him energy to keep the young ghoul warm.
“M‘kay…..” Dew murmured, purring up a storm as his bonded ghoul loved on him. Rain chuckled softly and also gave Dew a kiss on the cheek, smiling as the fire ghoul purred even more.
“Let him rest for now.” Aether said softly. “We‘ll be here for him when he wakes.”
Swiss would always shower Dew with gifts. Whether it be little trinkets he had found, or full love songs, Dew was always spoiled by Swiss.
Dew, on the other hand, was awful at giving gifts. He could never figure out what someone wanted, no matter how much he listened and memorized their interests, he just couldn’t find something that felt worthy of the person he loved.
But now, here the fire ghoul was, clumsily wrapping an antique record player. Dew had just gotten it fixed up so it still sounded as good as a new one, and he was going to leave it in Swiss’ room and pray to the Unholy Father that Swiss would at least somewhat like it.
Swiss was immediately giddy when he saw the present on his bed. He walked right on over and looked at the tag, his heart skipping a beat when he saw a simple flame drawing.
Swiss instantly tore into the wrapping paper, his eyes softening as he saw the record player.
The Multi ghoul set the record player up and put his favorite record on it, sitting down and listening to the beautiful sound of the music coming from the record.
Swiss looked into the box and saw a note from Dew. He opened the note and read it, a big grin growing on his face as he took in the words.
Swiss looked over as the door to his room was opened, his cheesy grin meeting Dew’s flushed face.
“This is amazing, Dew.” Swiss said earnestly as Dew walked over and sat next to Swiss. “i’m glad.” Dew murmured, resting his head on Swiss’ shoulder.
The Multi ghoul’s smile softened and he cuddled up close to the Fire ghoul.
Their moment was peaceful.
That is until Swiss spoke, his voice having a gently teasing tone.
“You’re blushing, my love.” Swiss smirked, making Dew groan and shove Swiss away as the Multi laughed happily.
All the cities he saw on tour, the different cultures and foods he got to try—even the different weather conditions seemed to amaze him.
So imagine Aeon’s surprise when he realized that not every town had the same wildlife milling about.
Mountain rushed into Aeon’s hotel room when he heard a shriek. His eyebrows were furrowed as he saw Aurora scrambling away from the window, and Aeon practically willing himself to phase past the glass to get to the rodent that was outside.
“that’s horrifying!” Aurora exclaimed. “it’s awesome!” Aeon countered with a big grin. Aurora turned to Mountain, her bright pink irises having a disgusted look.
“Mountain, get your dirt rodent friend away from our room!” Aurora said urgently. “Rora, stop being mean to the-… Mountain what is that?” Aeon asked as Mountain walked over to the window and looked outside, a deep chuckle leaving him.
“That’s a groundhog, Iris.” Mountain told Aeon, his eyes soft as Aeon discovered yet another wonder of being topside.
“It’s hideous.” Aurora grumbled, walking over and closing the blinds.
“You just like the cutesy things! You can’t see how adorable the ugly things are.” Aeon countered, waving Aurora away and opening the blings.
“The baby ones are quite cute, Azalea,” Mountain smiled as he looked over at Aurora. “I’ll believe it when I see it.” Aurora crossed her arms, looking back outside at the groundhog.
Rain was confused when he felt Dew pulling him out of the lake.
“What the hell?” Rain asked, confused as he stood up in the sand and looked at his mate.
“You’re bleeding.” Dew responded, placing his hand over a gash near the fin on Rain’s forearm. Rain looked down, and sure enough, watered down droplets of his blood dripped off his blue tinted skin and down into the sand.
“I didn’t realize.” Rain said, his eyebrows furrowed as he glanced back at the lake. “I must’ve grazed a rock.”
“That doesn’t matter, Raindrop,” Dew murmured, leaning in and kissing Rain’s cheek. “C’mon.”
Rain followed Dew back to the Ministry, sitting down in the Fire ghoul’s bathroom and smiling softly as Dew tended to his wound.
Rain examined Dew’s focused face—how his eyebrows pinched, how one of his fangs poked past his lip, how his tail gently brushed against Rain’s leg whenever the water ghoul made a small noise from a spike of pain.
“Thank you, Dewdrop.” Rain murmured, a small smile on his face as he looked up at his mate.
Dew just hummed and made sure Rain’s bandage was secure before he leaned in and gave Rain a soft kiss.
“Let me know if it itches. I’ll find you a different one with different adhesive.” Dew murmured, gently knocking his horn against Rain’s.
“Promise?” Rain smiled, knowing Dew would scour the world for a bandaid that didn’t itch if it was for Rain.
He knew his pack would drop everything to help him, especially if it was because of the aches in his knees, and that was exactly why he didn’t ask.
The Earth ghoul didn’t want to distract his pack from the things they needed to do. He didn’t want to be a bother.
Though, when he had bad pain days—days where the aches in his knees turned to sharp stabs and the aches fell to his ankles and raised to his shoulders and back, it was incredibly hard to hide the grimaces that crossed his face with every movement.
Dew watched as Mountain sat down on his bean bag with an exhausted huff, his eyebrows pinched as he tried to get comfortable and ignore the way his nerves were on fire.
“Ice or heating pad?” Dewdrop asked, already standing up.
“Pardon?” Mountain looked over at Dew, his eyebrows furrowed.
“Do you need an ice pack or a heating pad?” Dew repeated his question, his eyes soft as he looked at Mountain.
“Neither.” Mountain responded, his pain receptors flaring at the mere thought of being iced, and his mind being riddled with anxious thoughts about using a heating pad.
“The heating pad gets too hot and burns me.” Mountain sighed, not wanting it to seem like he was denying the fact that he was in pain. He didn’t want Dew to think he was blatantly lying.
Dew nodded at his words and walked over, sitting next to Mountain on his beanbag and cuddling close.
“What are you doing?” Mountain asked, his pain clouding his mind. “Cuddling you.” Dew responded, looking up at Mountain with a smirk as he began heating up his body to a temperature he knew the Earth ghoul liked.
“Dew-“ Mountain sighed, but stopped himself when Dew just hugged him tighter. Mountain silently nuzzled his nose into Dew’s ashy blond hair and closed his eyes, his tail twining with Dew’s.
Dew began gently rubbing at the areas that he knew bothered Mountain the most. He was extremely gentle, knowing that the slightest amount of too much pressure would make Mountain hiss in pain and recoil from Dew’s touch.
Mountain began quietly purring, a big sigh leaving him when Dew began kneading at his shoulders.
mushy may day two ! please excuse how i’ve already missed a day lol. day one will be written eventually haha

also, thank you @forlorn-crows for the prompts !!
Swiss had fallen asleep in the common room again.
It wasn’t an uncommon occurrence, due to how he was usually running around the Minsitry helping everyone, but his neck still complained whenever he moved.
Swiss grumbled quietly as he slowly woke up, his eyes squinted as he looked around the dark common room. He yawned nice and big, his sharp teeth showing for a moment before his jaw snapped shut when he heard movement in the kitchen.
Swiss slowly stood up, ignoring the twinge in his spine as he slipped his feet into his slippers and shuffled into the kitchen, messily putting his dreads up into a half up-half down style.
“Honeybat?” Swiss spoke, his voice a bit raspy.
Aeon whipped around, his arms holding a pillow case that had been stuffed with various snacks.
“What’re you doing?” Swiss asked, chuckling softly as he walked over and peaked into the pillow case to see what Aeon had managed to snag.
“Stocking.” Aeon responded with a shy grin. “The full moon is coming up. I wanted to have enough snacks to be up all night under it.” The young quint explained.
Swiss hummed and nodded, pressing a kiss to Aeon’s forehead.
“You should restock Dew’s granola bars before he notices a lot are missing.” Swiss smirked, walking with Aeon back to the smaller ghoul’s room.
Aeon snickered a bit and nodded, putting the pillow case of snacks into his closet with his stargazing blankets.
“Mind if I crash here?” Swiss asked, already making himself at home in Aeon’s bed. Aeon walked over with a grin and climbed in next to him.
“You know you’re always welcome.” Aeon murmured, tucking his face into Swiss’ shoulder. Swiss smiled.
welcome back to raven indulging in her need for torturing their favs.
aka—300 words of insomniac aeon mulling in his thoughts.
(just a small dose this time)
cw: insomnia, the slightest mention of dew’s transformation trauma, and aeon having self doubts.
under the cut, if you please<3
Sleep was a distant memory to Aeon.
He lied awake, staring up at Swiss’ bunk above him as the tour bus rolled along the highway. The young ghoul listened to Mountain’s deep snores, Rain’s quiet hums as he shifted, Cumulus’ small murmurs as her dreams played in her mind.
Aeon dreamed of the rest he may get if he slept—though, he knew the nightmares that would plague him if he dared to close his eyes.
The placebo suffocation of elemental change he felt through the ether waves from Dew, the loneliness from Cirrus, the stress wafting in the air all the way from Copia’s room. Or the shared anxiety of not fitting in from Aurora—a feeling that he knew far too well.
Maybe it was the fear of never being able to save all of his packmates that kept him awake. Or the feeling that he would never be enough, that the expectations were far too high due to his predecessor.
Aeon sighed and rolled over, watching the privacy curtain that hid Dew sway with each small adjustment he made.
The quint wondered how much Dew hated the sight of Aeon’s bunk. The quintessential swirl marked it as his—or, as Dew knew it, Aether’s.
Aeon and the fire ghoul were on better terms, maybe even friends if Dew let Aeon get close on stage, but Aeon knew the resentment that was in his heart—the young quint felt it.
Granted, it was a lesser amount than when Aeon was first summoned. But it was the feeling that plagued his thoughts, made him wonder if it was just Dew that subconsciously thought that Aeon wasn’t enough.
Aeon rolled over again, now facing the wall of his bunk.

aka 1.2k words of mountain realizing he’s emotionally neglected a lot of the time.
cw: dew gets emotionally spoiled, mountain has lots of trouble with his feelings, mountain lore👹
under the cut, if you please<3
Aether was gone.
Everyone was tentative around the subject, not wanting to trigger Dew into another fit of anger. Nobody really knew what Dew was mad at. It could’ve been Aether, the Ministry, himself—but nobody could say for sure due to how closed off Dew had been.
Swiss was always making jokes with Dew, wanting to distract him from the pain of not having one of his mates with them. Cumulus always got a fresh loaf of Dew’s favorite bread whenever they had a rest day, and everyone knew she’s rather be baking the loaf rather than buying it.
Cirrus was a silent comfort, in the shadows where Dew would hide, always willing to wrap her arms around him and whisper sweet nothings to the fire ghoul.
Rain, and by extension Aeon, were always there for Dew to rant to. And Aurora was more than happy to braid Dew’s hair whenever Rain initiated a mini spa night in whatever hotel the ghouls and their Papa were staying in that night.
And Mountain was tired of it.
He was tired of being the backbone, the one who constantly lifted everyone up when he was on the verge of crumbling himself. He was tired of watching everyone coddle Dew, and whisper with each other when the fire ghoul was asleep about oh, poor Dew—or—he’s been feeling better! Maybe he’s getting used to not having Aether around?
Mountain huffed behind his book, glaring over the tops of the pages at the fire ghoul sleeping on the tour bus couch.
He was tired of Dew being helped while he was tossed aside.
But he also felt like shit. He was feeling the same pain as Dew, yet here Mountain was acting childish, jealous over his mate who was getting the help that he needed.
But was it really being childish? Or was it realizing the mistakes of the pack, and how he felt being left in the dust when he needed support as well?
Mountain’s glare softened as he felt thorns growing from around his antlers. He slouched down a bit in the table booth, hiding his face behind his book until he could control the tears welling in his eyes.
He just wanted Aether back.
It wasn’t often Mountain was late to pre-show roll call. But tonight?
He was just so tired.
Mountain’s body was now facing the effects of being stressed out and emotionally worn. His stomach was constantly churning, he had an ever present ache right behind his eyes that never seemed to go away, his back was rigid and it hurt to move.
He was sore, and he knew he life was about to get a whole lot more exhausting after tonight’s ritual.
“Mountain?”
The earth giant blinked behind his goggles and looked down, seeing Aurora. Her much smaller hand was picking his up, a frown on her face as she felt how heavy his arm was, his exhaustion clearly echoed in the way he was holding himself.
“Hi.”
“Are you okay? You seem tired. Your ritual jitters aren’t as noticeable as usual,” Aurora spoke softly, reading the shaking of his hand as just simple jitters.
If only.
“I’m fine. Ready for the rest day we have tomorrow.” Mountain said simply, his face emotionless as he looked down at Aurora. His neck screamed at him as he looked down at her, the amount he had to strain his muscles almost laughable due to Aurora’s size compared to his.
Aurora nodded, a smile on her face.
“Me too.” She chuckled. She went to say more, but Papa cut her off, reeling in all the ghouls for the pre-show huddle.
Mountain sighed and stiffly walked over, taking note of how Rain, Swiss, and Aeon all walked over with Dew huddled between them.
His eyes narrowed as he watched how Aeon gave Dew a small buzz of quintessence to give him an energy boost. Mountain grumbled silently, knowing he could’ve used that small amount of energy much more than Dew.
But who was he to demand Dew stops getting the attention and support that he had been drowned in the for the whole tour?
A soft sigh left Mountain as he joined the huddle, tuning out Copia’s words.
Tomorrow.
Resting tomorrow will help.
He hated his sleep schedule.
Mountain was up with the sun the next day, and no amount of keeping his eyes closed lulled him back to sleep.
Mountain huffed and rolled onto his side, opening his eyes and discovering he hated something a lot more than his God forsaken sleep schedule.
Swiss was in the bed two feet away from him.
As well as Dew, Rain, and Aeon.
A low, earth rumbling growl left Mountain and he was immediately standing up, roughly unzipping his travel bag and pulling out some regular street clothes, his toothpaste and toothbrush, and his hairbrush. He grumbled as he walked to the bathroom, quickly getting ready for the day before he tossed his pajamas and hygienics onto the bed.
Mountain grabbed his phone and a room key before storming out of the room, ignoring how his now glamoured body complained with each step he took.
He didn’t know where he was going. He wasn’t even sure which city he was in.
He just needed to leave.
He turned his phone off after a while. The constant buzzing was getting on his nerves, and he had gotten close to tossing his phone on the sidewalk and letting it get trampled by the crowd.
He was so mad. The anger was only growing as Mountain realized how childish he was being.
He decided he needed to punch something. Hard enough to break whatever faced his wrath.
He wanted to indulge. He wanted to allow himself the brief respite that would be bruising his knuckles as his fists slammed down over, and over, and over, and over again.
Damned Beelzebub..
Mountain huffed and turned on his heel, walking back to the hotel and praying to his Lord below that he would be calm by the time he finished the fourteen block walk.
He just wanted to feel normal again.
Maybe he just wanted to be noticed.
Mountain listened to the quiet snores of Swiss and Rain, ignoring the growling voice in the back of his mind that was reminding him Dew had a key to the hotel room.
He didn’t want to be mad at Dew, and after lots of thinking, he realized he wasn’t. Envious, for sure, but he didn’t blame Dew, despite how much he wanted Dew to feel the hurt that he had been feeling. He wasn’t jealous anymore.
Mountain sighed as he looked over at Swiss and Rain.
He knew he could join them. He could start an unofficial and unannounced ghoul pile, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to see any more of the pack until he had to.
He was mad at them for forgetting him. He was mad at them for leaving him in the shadows and putting Dew in the limelight of their care and attention.
Tears welled in Mountain’s eyes as he realized what he was actually upset about.
He rolled onto his side, facing the wall so he could have some resemblance of dignity as he begrudgingly let tears fall.
He was an afterthought.
And he had reached his limit.
Mountain curled into himself and buried his nose into his knees, whining quietly as his back screamed in pain yet again.
As the one who sent that ask, thank you so much. I'm loving the angst so far. I'm sorry if the promt made you uncomfortable or anything, I'll be sure to put cw's before any others sent <3
