Brianna was staring intently at the screen as she tapped away, only for her focus to break as the music stopped. “What the hell…” She muttered, switching the music to play ‘Sail’ instead. “Fucking glitches. I really need to check over the hard drive and memory again… I can’t afford to lose anything on this case…”
She smirked to herself when she spotted a discrepancy in the reports, pulling up a CCTV video clip. She watched and carefully listened to a conversation between the two men in the video.
Again he tampered with the music pausing it and watched the video. Since he wasn’t into the businesses she had, he did not saw anything that would mean anything to him, but the video she watched had to be something important. Then again he waited, he wanted to see how far he could go. In the end he didn’t care about the outcome. He had became too careless with results, what mattered to him was he wanted, even though he could be imprudent.
“Come on tell me more about this shadow business. I want to know” he whispered
Brianna listened as carefully as she could, ignoring the fact that music had been turned off. Sh tried to pick apart the whispered conversation, until a certain phrase appeared between the two men.
‘That shipment of Krocodil is late… gonna have to use something to fill the order till then’.
Brianna’s eyes widened. “So, you’ve been selling high concentration heroin on the side? Swindling people out of their cash not enough, you fucking bastard?” She asked aloud, knowing she wouldn’t get an answer. “What else are you playing at?”
The medic watched with interest the bargain that worked over the video and as soon as he over heard the batch that was sold. “My my.. this is interesting….” he growled lowly with a devious hint in his voice. If he had been in his mech form, he would have been grinning and optics glowing bright.
In his progress of power on earth, he had found out that what humans called the Internet he had found out that it was more about it than it seemed. The deep web was a dark place, where the worst bargains were done. He had found out that humans had a dark side, darker than he had expected, it was repulsive. In the end he had, in a way dismantled some of those markets just to keep the funds made and in a way to ‘help’ those involved, mainly the ones he felt identified with.
When she gave a hint over the Heroin, he saw that this was a greater deal so this Krocodil was something even more expensive. An urge to know more tickled his processor. His natural curiosity and interest for funds was his deal. This had begun a long time ago where he had found out that with credits, money, riches, meant power and that filled that vacant space he felt for many eons till he had met his mate, Breakdown. Now again that space was empty, and it had become a void, and that was the origin of his nickname, there was nothing that could fill up that hole, at least that is what he felt.
-Please do tell, what are you dealing with…and let see if you can play with a real con- he though as he forced himself not to speak or laugh out loud. -Game on-
Brianna paid full attention to the conversation, occasionally jotting down a quick note of anything that seemed like it would be of interest. Her eyes narrowed and her eyebrows furrowed as she heard more.
Thus far, not only did she find that the Krocodil would be mixed with a bunch of cheap shit, they were also going to sell it to university students and near places where it could easily be sold to someone unknowing of what it was. Then there was the fact that they were hiking up interests and threatening people into paying absurd fees; typical Loan Shark types.
The conversation eventually ended and the two men separate. The young woman closed the video and closed her laptop, leaning back in her car seat and sighing heavily. God, she needed a smoke now.
She rolled down the car window and pulled a cigarette and lighter from her jacket pocket, lighting up and taking a drag of smoke.
