Hell's Heart rumination
It's a fine MD retelling overall, in the sense of the way the original is transposed into space adventure led by women is competent.
I only wish that it was written with more faith in the reader. There is really no reason for the narrator to excuse herself so much before exposition, or assume that the reader will be bored by it every single time. However, perhaps Hall knows their readership, because some of the reviews I have read, written by Hall's own fans, did not understand the book very well at all. It is honestly a shame.
I thought it was cool and clever that Fedallah is a thinking machine/AI, I like that Flask was axed and Stubb split into two, and I liked all of "A's" spoken lines.
