Chelo Amezcua, born in northern Mexico in 1903, then living from the age of ten until her death in 1975 in the provincial border town of Del Rio, Texas, was a self-tutored artist. Her linear drawings, executed with ordinary ballpoint pens, invite exploration of a life story that reveals a naturally fecund imagination enriched by the complex interplay of cultural traditions along the Mexico–Texas border during the first half of the twentieth century. Featured in Raw Vision 71. http://ift.tt/1k0UBQq http://ift.tt/1uxRipa
Martha Grunenwaldt only began to make art when she was 71. Living at her daughter Josine’s home in Mouscron, Belgium, she instinctively took up her grandchildren’s colouring pencils and began to create a new world, making her distinctive colourful drawings.
