My friend Noor has beautiful eyes, but today they look sad.  Noor’s grandfather passed away and she has had no way of letting her father know because the simple forms of communication all of us take for granted can’t help her reach out to her father with this news.  Noor’s father, Ghassan Elashi, is a political prisoner incarcerated in a highly restrictive and secretive federal prison program called the Communications Management Unit (CMU), in which I was also incarcerated.

The CMU is a racially discriminatory, repressive, secretive and possibly illegal US political prison program.  I was held there for 6 months in 2008.  I recently wrote an article for MondoWeiss and the Indypendent attempting to expose this program and highlight the way it has impacted the Elashi family.  Please read it with an open mind, share it with friends and stay in touch.  Our goal is to bring this secretive program into the light and in front of the courts.
