What exactly IS an art hoe?

creates art, or b) appreciatesart.
The term “art hoe” wascreated by tumblr users sensitiveblackperson and 2jam4u in orderto empower POC, as their identities are often erased in today’s society. Themovement was originally proposed for artists, LGBTQIA individuals, POC, andanyone else who wanted to feel empowered.
- empowering POC (aswell as other minority groups)
- eradicatingstereotypes about POC
- allowing POC tobecome more profound and proud of their culture
- exploring genresand artwork by other POC
The “art hoe” movement isstill very much about the above things – as co-creator sensitiveblackpersonstated, “at the end of the day it’s still run by POC to empower individuals” –but, as things will, the “art hoe” movement has come to represent more than itwas originally intended to do.
For example, there arecertain characteristics that have come to be associated with the “art hoe”movement, including:
*Note that all of thesecharacteristics are positive and do not hurt anyone in any way!! (looking at you, “art hoe” haters)
The “art hoe” movement hasalso spawned its own “style,” if you will, which has its own characteristicsjust like other styles such as “goth,” “boho,” “preppy,” ect.
Some characteristics of the“art hoe” style:
- the colors“mustard yellow” and “cobalt blue”
- denim overallsand jackets
- black and whitestriped tops

This does not mean that youhave to dress like this to be an “art hoe”!!!!! No matter WHO YOU ARE or HOWYOU DRESS, all you have to do to consider yourself an art hoe is make orappreciate art!!!!!
*This also means that youdon’t have to have a Kanken backpack, expensive clothes, or Copic markers to bean art hoe!!
