I think the ending of Baby Reindeer went over a lot of people’s head to be honest. The ending isn’t supposed to be a ‘full circle moment’ where Donny ‘becomes’ Martha. It’s supposed to be Donny realising it was never his fault that Martha started stalking him, that his kindness wasn’t at fault. He offered an upset woman a cup of tea for free, that’s something most people would do in that situation. When the bartender gives Donny a drink on the house when he forgot his wallet, it’s Donny realising that kindness should not result in being stalked and harassed. It’s him realising that Martha is very mentally unwell and that the situation wasn’t his fault. Also, stop trying to find the real people the story is based on, Richard Gadd said that it’s not the point of the story and it’s putting real people in danger. Like how are people watching a story of a man being stalked and then going and doing the same thing to real people? It’s gross. Richard Gadd doesn’t owe the public that information, nor do the public need to know the real abusers in the story to understand the point of it.

As Arasha rounds to corner into the storage area, she’s greeted by the sight of her bosses hastily untangling from what seems to have been —judging by the state of their hair— some relatively passionate…er…relationship building.

“Oh, h-hey, Arasha!” Ian stutters nervously, clearly hoping Arasha hasn’t noticed anything, which…

Ian’s lips are swollen, he’s flushed bright red through the tips of his ears. Anthony’s shirt is pulled askew, hickeys dotting his exposed shoulder.

“Hey guys,” Arasha moves past them casually, as if everything is normal. She can practically hear the tension leave Ian and Anthony’s shoulders.

“Well, uh…we have to go now!”

Arasha holds back a grin at the conspicuous stiffness in Anthony’s phrasing, the way the two of them are snickering to each other as they leave like they’ve gotten away with it.

The moment they’re out of sight, she grabs her phone, pulling up a group chat aptly named smosh office ianthony sightings 8==D

I don’t like this trend in media where struggling characters “have” to die. why aren’t addicts and outcasts allowed to have happy or hopeful endings anymore. I know things are bleak and people die but holy shit. the one grace of media is that you can CHOOSE to live in the best reality possible where EVERYONE can move on with their life and things can get better, not this defeatist nonsense.
