A winters evening at The Church Of The Good Shepherd in Tadworth - a beacon of light.
The extension of the railway line in 1900 from Purley encouraged building in Tadworth. Soon after Sir Henry Cosmo Bonsor provided land for a Church, a Hall and the Vicarage. Money was raised for the building which was designed by Sir Charles Barry, and work began in 1911, with the Chancel and Nave completed in 1912. The Church was consecrated on 27th April that year by the Bishop of Southwark.
Church of St Peter and St Paul, Chaldon - The mural on the west wall of the nave was only discovered during restoration works in 1870. The background is of red tempera while the figures are a lighter red. The mural has been described as 'perhaps the most interesting ancient wall-painting in England' and as 'one of the most important English wall paintings' of its date.
The overall scheme combines several iconographic subjects, including the Last Judgement, Harrowing of Hell, and the Ladder of Salvation. The lower half contains demons and depictions of sin, and the upper half the judgement and the salvation of souls. In the centre is a ladder, with Christ at the top. The main figures of the lower half include two demons boiling sinners in a cauldron, two demons holding a saw on which balance sinners. Representations of the Seven deadly sins surround these scenes.
It is thought to have been painted by a travelling artist-monk and dates from about 1200.
Church of St Peter and St Paul, Chaldon founded before 1086 and is mentioned in the Doomsday book.

Christchurch is a Norman motte and bailey castle with the earliest stonework dated to 1160. However, the castle's site is inside an old Saxon burh dominating the River Avon's lowest crossing.

The âWeeping Windowâ at the Imperial War Museum London - on show from October 5th through November 18th. The poppies came to IWM as the end of âPoppies Tourâ across the UK.
The ceramic poppies were originally conceived for an exhibition at the Tower of London in the Summer of 2014, called âBlood Swept Lands And Seas of Redâ.
Designed by Paul Cummins and Tom Piper.

Leatherhead Sword sculpture. Not sure, but believe this was inspired by finding a Saxon Sword washed up by the River Mole.
