“Oh shit sorry. I didn’t see you there. “
Cro nodded along as she spoke, flipping through a large, black, leather book. Blue eyes scanning the page. He looked sharply at her when she mentioned the feather. He silently mouthed a mumble of words as he looked the page over, sitting down next to her he looked at her very seriously. “Do you believe in God, Rayna?”
Rayna stared at books unsure where to even start. She looked over at Cro, hearing his mumbling. he tilted her head at his question. It seemed so odd to her to hear. “ I never given the matter much thought. Why do you ask?”
Cro ignored her question about his age. He listened to her talk about her past and he nodded slowly. “Well that makes it hard. Have you noticed any weird…things you can do? Move things, hear animals talk? Anything  like that?” He asked, leading her into the library, he walked toward the religion section. “I might have an idea, but I could be wrong.” He said softly in thought, more to himself than her.Â
She followed in the library and listened to what he had to say. She had an odd feeling he knew more than he let one. “ Yeah, I know. Yeah a few weird thing’s. Moving thing’s. I got hit by a car once and walked away without a scratch. There’s one other thing, but I’m convinced that one’s all in my head. I woke up covered in feathers. Like someone had a pillow fight in my room. “ Rayna said rolling her eyes. Sh tilted her head looking at him as he said something. “ What id you say?”
“You’d be surprised.” He said with a shrug. Leaning against the wall he looked her up and down. “Well what are you then? It’s easier to research when you know what you are.” It was a redundant question, Cro already knew, or at least thought he knew. The dull glow that surrounded her head was one he was all too familiar with, Angel, yet she smelt human. Which wasn’t a good combination at this school.Â
“Enlighten me then?” Rayna said looking him up and down again. She knew she was dealing with people who weren’t human, so she assumed a lot of possibilities. “ I have no idea. My mom’s human and my dad disappeared before I was born. I didn’t get much in the way of information“ She added in a matter of fact way, when the reality of the situation had messed her up.
“Most of you kids are.” He said simply. His eyes looked fell on her every once in a while, he could sense she was something powerful, something pure almost. Yet it was muddy, like looking through murky water. However before Cro could figure out a way of asking the question they walked up to the library. “Here’s the library.”
“Kids? How much older can you be than me?” Rayna said with a half smile as she looked over the guy. He was cute but seemed dangerous. She wasn’t sure how much more danger she needed in her life. “ Thanks. I was trying to figure out some stuff about myself. I figured here’s a good place to start” She added with a shrug
Cro looked at her with a raised brow quickly before looking back to the floor. “My second year here. I’m assuming you’re new.” He said, voice gruff as he looked around.Â
Rayna watched him noting how he looked at her. She wasn’t sure why he did that. “Yeah I’m new. It’s kind of obvious. I’m in over my head so far”
He looked down at her hand hesitantly before finally reaching out and shaking it. Soon after, he quickly pulled his hands close to his chest. Nervous habit. “S-so, I a-agree that it’s like a maze… I ju-I just figure if we k-keep walking… we’ll f-find our way around?”
Rayna nodded her head as she looked around. “ I guess that could work. If we got lost at least we have company.”
Rosalind Hennessy -Mother(The woman who tried to kill her) Barachiel aka Brendan Talbot-Father(The man who ditched her) Jaime Hennessy-Aunt(The woman who raised her) Rayna Talbot (A clusterfuck)
Keavy giggled along with her. “You get into a lost of mischief?” She asked as they began walking. “Oh yeah! A very good sign! I think we’ll be very good friends Rayne!” Keavy giggled at the little nickname she had already picked out for the girl.Â
“Kind of. It’s a while huge story. I’ll tell you about it sometime” Rayna replied with a smile She liked Keavy so far and didn’t want to open up their friendship by talking about how she was almost killed by her mom. “ Yeah? I think that’s definitely a possibility. I could always use more friends”
He merely grunted in acknowledgment as they walked. Hands slipped into his pockets, blue eyes on the floor. “Cro.” He said simply.
Rayna walked along side him and looked him over in her way of trying to figure out people. The habit only grew as the pieces were connecting as to what kind of school this was. “Cro.....I like that name. Been here long?” She asked not really sure if he was talkative or not. It made her feel good though.Â
Keavy giggled and grinned wide at the girl. “I like yours! Rayna! What’s its origin?” She asked tilting her head. when the paper was handed to her the selkie squealed excitedly and bounce happily. “Oh Rayna! I’ve got exciting news! We’re gonna be roommates! I’ll take ya to our room!!”Â
“It’s Hebrew. It means pure. I think my mom was making a huge joke by naming me that. “ Rayna replied with wide eyes before looking at the other woman with a smile. “We are? This is a good sign. Yeah lead the way” She continued, smiling more.Â
Cro took one more drag of his cigarette before tapping it out on the window sill and turning on his heel to walk the other direction. When he didn’t hear foot steps he looked over his shoulder and squinted his eyes at her. “You coming?”
Rayna hadn’t realized the guy had started off until he addressed her. “Yeah, coming” she replied before catching up to him.“ I’m Rayna by the way.”
Alex smiled at the girl as he pulled on the ends of his sleeves, “Y-yeah, it is a b-bit confusing. This place is s-so huge. I b-b-barely f-found my r-room earlier.” He looked around before pushing his glasses up on his face. “W-what’s your n-name? I-I’m Alex.”
“It’s like a maze. I’ve never been anywhere so big “Rayna said with a half smile. She swore she was going to get lost again soon. “ I’m Rayna. It’s nice to meet you Alex” She added, holding out her hand
Keavy grinned and took one of the girl’s items. “Ah really? Suppose it tis a wee bit of a ghost town this time o’ day. The name’s Keavy! What’s yours?” The Selkie grinned with excitement. She loved getting to meet new people and her curious nature always got the better of her. “Probably best to find your room! Where is it?”
“Well I haven’t seen as many people as I’ve seen rooms and doors so it’s definitely a ghost town. I’m Rayna. I really like your name Keavy.  “ Rayna offered wit a smile before pulling out a piece of paper she had written down where her room was. “I wrote it down, so I wouldn’t forget, but I think it only made me more lost” She added while holding out the crumpled piece of paper
“Where are you headed then?”
“The library. I knew it was around here but I’m not used to being in places so big. “
“–Can I help you?”
“I look lost don’t I? Yeah...I got turned around”
Keavy kept wandering around the halls, trying to see how many windows you could see the ocean out of when she saw a girl huffing angrily. The girl skipped over and looked at her with concern. “Hey you okay? Need any help?”
The blonde looked around and finally saw someone else in the hall. She didn’t want to act to excited to see another soul, but she really had gotten turned around. “ Yeah actually. You’re the first person I’ve seen for a while. I have no idea where I’m supposed to go “
