I wonder if sometimes the lines blur between Magda and Chu.

Is she ever gossiping with the other ladies at a ball and almost tells them about something utterly ridiculous another consort said before she remembers that consort is a world away.

Or does she ever catch herself about to suggest to Asaro that he and Juven should compete to see who's the better flirt, reminding herself that Chu doesn't know Juven, that he's not even born yet.

Do two sets of memories ever clash and she's left clutching her head trying to sort them all out.

Does she ever feel ancient, having repeated the same year so many times in an attempt to give everyone happiness. A maddening cycle where it feels like her efforts are futile over and over again as the year reaches the same conclusion and she watches that palace burn over and over.

Does anyone in either time ever come across her staring into space, lost in thoughts of it all.

Does she ever forget that she's Magda while in that box, and does she ever jolt in place when she remembers, terrified of what if she forgets herself entirely one of these loops.
