Day 4, Game: A rewrite of my favorite scene from Aquatopia
A secluded area within Razās mind, heavily fortified and kept off the Gardenerās path of the ācard countersā voyaging through Razās head.
The Skeesh approached this custom made freakshow jailhouse, she had been here plenty of times before, an off-the-books warden, if you will.
As she entered the compound, various Censors stood at attention as she passed them. Her march ended at a particular cell.
āHeya Skeesh. Long time no see.ā
āWhat are you doing with the card counters? And donāt say ānothingā, because I know youāre pulling something.ā
āYou always were a perceptive one. I think thatās one of my favorite qualities of you, the real you anyway.ā
āAnswer the damn question.ā
āFine, fine. Well, Iām not doing nothing. I could be doing not-not-nothing, but Iām not doing nothing.ā
āIn English, Nostra-dumbass.ā
āHarsh. So I might be pulling some strings here and there. Itās my mind, I can do whatever I please in it.ā
āYou donāt belong here, Iād argue to say you never belonged here.ā
āOh simple Skeesh, how rude. I belong here as much as you do, if not then more. I am Raz, and he is me. And ālaterā is becoming sooner and sooner.ā
āWe will address you when the time comes. Now, what are you doing with the card counters?ā
āA little trickery, some harmless hazing is all. Itās a perfectly good method to test new people in a foreign environment.ā
āOh my dear Skeesh, you already know whatās going to happen, we dreamed upon it in our brightest nightmares. Iām just moving it along faster than we hoped.ā
āYouāre hopeless. They did nothing wrong, and weāll do nothing to them. Call it off and maybe weāll deal with you in a more humane way.ā
āOr else what? I bring the rain of justice to our friends? The tears of the Psychonaut as my weapon, I will do what needs to be done, no matter what.ā
Skeesh turned to leave, and started walking as the prisoner pipped up again.
āI remember that the real you loved me, donāt you?ā
As Skeesh cleared the doors of that insanity, she took a long breath in,
āI loved you for who you were, not who you are.ā
