Day 7, Movies: It Only Takes A Moment

Earth, Year 2805.

A lone LIL-E (Litter Incinerating Life-Model, Earth Class) unit roams around the barren, desolate campsite that was once known by the name of “Whispering Rock”, cleaning up the waste left behind by who knows.

It’s been eight hundred years since the grass beneath the heaps of garbage and junk has seen what little of the sunlight that passes through the dense shield of satellites that cover the lower atmosphere.

The LIL-E unit wasn’t wholly alone, she did have her companion, and arguably the last living creature on Earth, Harold the Rat, who was home at the station.

Today was no different from any other day for LIL-E, walking around, burning any trash she comes across to proton, more walking around, then going to her station to recharge for the night.

Or at least, it would’ve been, had the LIL-E unit not have been interrupted by a meteor hitting the ground not 5 meters away from her.

The Unit investigated the strange meteor, only for it to crack open in half. A mechanical arm then lifted another robotic agent to the ground. A RAZ (Revival Appraiser — Z series) unit. The arm then typed on some buttons, activating the RAZ unit.

The curious LIL-E unit approached the RAZ unit as it booted up and surveyed its surroundings.

LIL-E gave a noise of greeting, startling RAZ into defensive protocol, opening fire with photokinetic energy blasts at LIL-E, scaring the android into skittering away.

-Later-

LIL-E invited RAZ into her station to hide from a sandstorm. The RAZ unit was surprised by all the knick-knacks the LIL-E had collected among the trash she would incinerate.

Among the occasional comic or novelty doll, LIL-E had a tape of an old film that she enthusiastically loaded into a jury rigged toaster and portable music player.

As the film started to play, oddly skipping to nearly the end, a beautiful song started to be sung.

“And that is all

That love’s about.

And we’ll recall

When times run out.

That it only took a moment.

To be loved a whole life long.”
