First things first, let me get this out of the way:
🎆Happy birthday, Yoimiya!🎆

The last two years, I've managed to post a fic with her and Aether as the main focus, however... this year, I've had quite a few difficult months leading up to today, so I've been forced to delay posting it, but don't worry, it will come soon enough (maybe in the next month, if things go as planned)! However... I thought I might post a teaser for my fic, as the word count is at 14605 as of writing this, yet I haven't yet reached the main scene that made me start this fic (so expect a 20k+ fic this year too, lol). Keep in mind that this is only a tiny spoiler, as it doesn't reveal the twist for the fic :) Enjoy and I'll be back soon with the whole thing!
He had no time to think about it. They were about to fall into some sort of domain, with a spiral, Abyss-like entrance. Yoimiya was falling at the same rate as him. He grabbed her hand, wrapped one of his arms around her and instantly used Dendro with his free arm to create vines to plant into the walls, to prevent their fall.
They had a few seconds to breathe, while the monsters were approaching the newly made hole.
Between ragged breaths, he managed to speak. “Yoimiya, grab onto me and whatever happens, don’t let go. I’ll get us out of here.”
She unlatched a rope from her kimono and quickly tied it around his belt. She then wrapped her arms around him, almost like a fierce hug.
He moved the Dendro vines to instead wrap around them, and tried to use Anemo to lift them out, but with no success. Instead, he used Geo to create a mini platform on the wall closest to them.
“I’m going to swing us over there and then dash out of here with Electro, okay?” He almost whispered, as he was talking into her ear. She nodded and Aether could feel a tear roll onto him from Yoimiya’s cheek.
However, his plan was about to be foiled by a simple Pyro Abyss Mage. Before he could try to swing themselves, the Abyss Mage just shot a projectile towards the vine that held most of their weight. It burned and snapped, making the other vines snap from the sudden change in the distribution of their weight.
They were falling down into the domain.
Aether encased him and Yoimiya into Geo on the outside and Anemo and Dendro on the inside for whenever they reached the floor of the domain. If it had one.
Aether managed to get out one sentence before hugging her tightly. “I’m sorry, Yoimiya.”
Yoimiya hugged him back. “I l-” But her sentence was cut short by them breaching the edge of the domain.
