Happy Father's Day, Rick!

Rick told Michonne that the ONLY thing he wanted for Father's Day, was a day at home where they didn't do anything, just hung out.

Sure, they'd all spent the night before wrapping the gifts they'd carefully made and picked out for him. Michonne had planned to order food from his favorite restaurant, and the kids had practiced exactly how they were going t ask him to take them on a family walk before bed.

But, the main reason Rick didn't ask for anything, is because he always feels like the best gift is just getting to wake up every morning to a life he never imagined he'd have.

As a test, I wrote a Reddit post for Carl. In my mind, he wrote this in the middle of Chapter 7 of of You've Got That Power Over Me…

Obviously all the replies hyped him up to contact Michonne.

Not adding it to the fic since I don’t think it will fit in well with what’s already there and I hate to edit anything but errors once a chapter is posted.

Back with a new chapter, and wanted to take a second to say thank you thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has checked in on this fic. I could never abandon it, I genuinely love the way this one has been going, but have reached a level of acceptance that this one will be more of a slow going than my others.

If you've read any of my fics, you know I really don't get TOO deep into angst with these two. Michonne and Rick spent so much time apart, I really don't need to join the show writers in keeping them apart.

That being said, I do dabble quite a bit in their miscommunication (read as, lack of communication on Rick's part..), and that's what we're up against in this chapter.

Spoiler Alert, it's Richonne, so obviously they work through it 🖤

One of the most special things about Rick and Michonne is that they are such a partnership of equals. There is so much respect between the two of them, and it feels like it's something that neither of them have experienced before, so they know how precious it is.

In this one we get a glimpse of how much Carl and Rick have already started to trust and value Michonne, and the Grimes family, without realizing it, is already becoming their own little unit. It's also time for Michonne to consider what she wants, since we knew from the beginning that she wasn't where she wanted to be.

I'm back, and I'm sorry for the unexpected break. I got a new job and this one doesn't allow me to prioritize writing my litle fics 😂

Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll. Y'all voted for the carnival, and I hadn't even considered how apropro that was until I was writing and remembered that Richonne had a weekend away at the Carnival before!

This one looks a little different as the Grimes Family has their first outing together...

One of the things that has been REALLY different with this fic is that this is the first one I've done that didn't start out with Michonne and Carl becoming friends first, so folding their families together has been more to consider.

I've been a bit caught up on being realistic on the timeline of when they'd actually fold their kids into the mix, and while I thought about dragging it out a little bit, but in this case I'm not sure that makes sense.

There is no "Richonne" without the Grimes kids, and it feels like Rick and Michonne would both want to know early if someone they were considering dating would have a good relationship with their children. I can't imagine them compartmentalizing the people who matter the most to them when the beginning of the relationship doesn't feel at all casual.

So, we're not waiting. Grimes family is getting to know each other in a Carnival that doesn't have Zombies - just rides, more pizza, and some friendly competition.

During Black History month....?! The Walking Dead fandom is so weird... 🙂‍↔️😂 I wrote out a longer answer to this, but realized in the third paragraph that it wasn't energy well spent, so we're going to do something different.

Let me help you out... On ao3, you can utilize filters to select characters that you want included. There are over 7k with Carol in them, almost 5k are completed. That should keep you occupied for a bit.

Well, he's back at the bench and we're gonna go ahead and rip the band-aid off the Shane and Lori saga for this fic. To be clear, it's not that I think what happened to them is funny, it's that I don't think Rick would have done what he did after they passed. That being said - a little mischaracterization for the sake of the plot never hurt anyone.

This one also has more Michonne and Sasha. I've said before that one of my biggest gripes with the show is that I refuse to believe that we wouldn't have seen more bonding, conversations, and relationships between the women.

Random but relevant sidenote... if you have considered writing a fic before but haven't, consider starting it. The whole damn world is on fire and so many of us have our fists in the air, but it was refreshing to step out of my own world for a little bit this week and into this fluffy one.
