open to: m/f plot: cecily ran away from court and integrated herself in your muse's village, presenting herself as a young widow. your muse has just figured out that she's actually the missing princess
cecily had created and told a hundred lies at least since the day she had fled the palace. she had created a simpler version of herself, one without her beloved jewelled gowns or her ladies-in-waiting, one without all the luxuries that came with being a princess. here, she was just alice. a quiet, young widow still grieving the untimely loss of her husband to the sweating sickness just two months shy of their first anniversary. it was a pitiful story, enough so that people didn't tend to ask for further details so as not to cause her any unnecessary grief.
she had been safe here, or so she had thought. she had known that her father would hunt her down, if only so that he could ship her off to the cruel prince he had promised her to, but she had remained hidden for long enough that she had started to believe he might never find her. but she had been careless, it seemed. she had kept but one possession from her former life: a pendant worth more in gold than the entire village she was sure. a pendant which featured on the proclamations that had cropped up around the country offering a fortune for information that might lead to the missing princess's safe return.
and they had found it, though she had hidden it, and realised that she was not who she said she was. not at all.
"i can explain." her words were little more than a whisper. "please, just let me-" she broke off and swallowed. "please let me explain."
open to: f plot: arthur is in love with your muse, who is betrothed to his brother, edmund, who is also the crown prince
arthur had long since learned that desire was best kept concealed. to bury it beneath discipline, because a prince who reached for anything he wanted, like his brother, was a liability to the crown. a prince who buried his wants in the name of duty, however, became somewhat indispensable. he knew what this country needed, the kind of leadership, and it wasn't edmund.
she had been promised to edmund before arthur had ever met her. when she had arrived at court, a future queen, arthur had paid little attention to the excitement surrounding her arrival. that was, until, he had met her. it hadn't taken much - a single smile and arthur had been caught entirely off guard. all his opinions about burying desire and remaining disciplined now seemed rather silly. he hadn't known desire until then, and he had coveted her since that very moment. but she was not for him so arthur made sure to keep his distance, to admire from afar. watched as edmund neglected her - though charming when he wanted to be, his brother's attention wandered easily, but she never complained.
the library had always been arthur's refuge. it was one of the few places within the palace that was always quiet. silence was expected here rather than seeming awkward, and conversations could be had without an audience, which was precisely why he had come, seeking a moment of solitude away from endless council meetings about his brother's latest indiscretion. he hadn't expected to find her there, balanced upon the rung of a small ladder, her brow furrowed in concentration. arthur cleared his throat to announce his presence so as not to startle her. "need some help?"
open to: f plot: edmund is the crown prince, and your muse is a lady-in-waiting to one of edmund's sister
edmund had once believed those who suggested that affection could be directed and trained towards the most suitable match. that was, after all, exactly how his parents had fallen in love. foolish perhaps, for him to believe that without having ever experienced it himself. it wasn't until princesses started arriving at court with their flawless manners and immense dowries that edmund realised he had been misled. every conversation felt rehearsed, every laugh forced. he found them predictable, boring, and his interest in finding a wife dwindled. was it any wonder that his attention had strayed? for weeks now, his interest had been focused on a lady-in-waiting to one of his sisters. it was a thoroughly inconvenient fascination in that she carried no political weight and, as his tutors and councillors and his father all loved to remind him, a future king did not marry for love, and they would sooner accept a foreign alliance than an unsuitable match. these were, however, reminders that fell on deaf ears. edmund paid no heed to them. he would be king one day, and he would do as he pleased.
edmund spotted her long before she noticed him. he was hidden in the shadows of an archway and she was across the courtyard, balancing an armful of what looked like neatly folded silks. he watched as she drew closer, oblivious to his presence, and when she was within arms reach, he started forward and purposefully bumped into her, just hard enough to knock the silks out of her arms so that he had an excuse to help her pick them up. "my apologies," he kneeled to her level, inwardly amused at how horrified certain members of the court would be if they could see him now. "here, let me help you."
open to: m plot: your muse is a knight, aveline is the queen, i feel like you know where i'm going with this. bonus points if your muse and the king are close, e.g. childhood friends
aveline had always known her fate. her parents had betrothed her to the crown prince, now king, long before she had any understanding of what that meant, the agreement between the kingdoms having been signed and sealed with wax all before she had turned 6 years old. she had never questioned it until she had realised that, if not for the birth of her younger brother, she would be first in the line of succession and her father's throne would one day be hers. she would be queen in her own right and free to marry whomever she wished. most importantly, she would not have been shipped off to a far away kingdom where she knew not the people nor the customs.
the king was not cruel as she had spent the entire journey imagining. he was courteous when the situation demanded it, unfailingly polite before the court, but otherwise indifferent towards her. he would occasionally visit her bedchambers in his attempt to produce an heir - an attempt that had thus far been unsuccessful - but beyond that, they barely interacted. aveline told herself that she ought to be grateful for the freedom his indifference afforded her, but she was quite lonely. she often found herself wandering aimlessly. today, she had wandered further into the palace gardens than intended, mostly because she could not bear another afternoon of needlework. she enjoyed trailing through the immaculately clipped hedges and admiring the climbing roses so much so that she scarcely noticed the armoured figure standing near the stone fountain until avoice interrupted her thoughts. your majesty. a respectful enough greeting but it startled her all the same. she turned sharply, finding one of her husband's knights inclining his head towards her, one hand resting on the pommel of his sword. he was unfamiliar to her, but so were most people here. "i didn't realise anyone else came to this part of the gardens," she replied coldly, her tone almost accusatory in her irritation at being disturbed.
okay here are the historical muses I am looking to add (will be test muses for now). I would love some fc suggestions if anyone has any, but i do have at least one potential for each so you get an idea of the vibe I'm going for
- princess aveline
potential fc: matilda lutz (specifically in medici masters of florence bc I never get to use those gifs)
diplomatic and beloved by the people. the eldest child of king robert & queen eleanor. quietly resentful of her brother, prince edmund who, as the eldest son, is next in line to what she believes is her throne; and that her fate is to be married off to unite their kingdom with another
- prince edmund
potential fc: james norton, theo james, david corenswet
edmund is a celebrated military commander in his father's army, his glorious victories thought to be an indication of the strong ruler he will eventually become
- prince arthur
potential fc: nick robinson, josh o’connor.
quiet, observant, and underestimated. has a gift for strategy and matters of state
- princess cecily
potential fc: rose williams
quietly rebellious. dismissed by everyone in matters of politics which allows her to move through court unnoticed and uncover the secrets that others miss
i may or may not have written starters for aveline & edmund 😏

my football era is now over so I’ll be reverting back to my former personality
I don’t know if I’ll get on this weekend as I have plans but if I do I might try and get some historical muses added like I said I was going to weeks ago lol
lauren stays quiet, her eyes never leaving alex. even when it feels like he's intentionally looking everywhere except at her, she keeps watching him. two years. nearly two years of her life had come and gone, and she couldn't remember any of it. "love isn't enough..." she repeats softly, trying to make peace with words she doesn't even remember saying. her gaze finally drops to her hands. the pale pink manicure has somehow survived. though the polish has dulled and grown out at the edges. "love made you come when they called. when you found out i'd been in an accident." her thumb absently traces over one of her nails. "it made you stay...all this time." she lets out a slow breath. "so...that's not nothing." she risks another glance at him before looking back down, her voice growing quieter. "i'm sorry i don't..." she swallows. "i'm sorry i don't remember." heat creeps into her cheeks, tears threatening again but she blinks them back before they have the chance to fall. she'd cried enough. instead, something steadier settles in. determination. "if there's a chance i can remember..." she says, lifting her head, "then i'm going to try." her eyes find his again. "and i want to go home. whatever home looks like now." she pauses, taking a careful breath. "i don't want to be stuck in here anymore." there's a hesitant beat before she asks, almost afraid of the answer. "can you...find out when they'll let me leave?"
alex listened in silence, his expression solemn. had love made him come? he hadn't thought it about it like that. it hadn't been a conscious decision. the hospital had called and alex had been out of the door before the call was over. whatever resentment he had been carrying from the breakup, from lauren's claim that sometimes love just wasn't enough, had disappeared the moment he'd heard the words serious head injury. "don't apologise," his voice was gentle. "it's not your fault." the determination in her face made him smile. a small, tired smile, but a smile nonetheless, despite the fact that it would do him no favours. once she got her memories back she would remember just how unhappy she had been with him, and all the reasons she had broken up with him - he was sure there were many. and if she didn't remember, she would just learn those reasons all over again, so he supposed it made no difference either way. "i'll ask," he said, getting up. "i don't think it'll be for a while yet, though. you need anything else while i'm up?"

idk I just think they would be fun to write
Zaria listened, her eyes curious and slightly unsure as she was about to recieve information that to her was new, yet it was all old. "Sounds like my defence mechanism."she mused with a light huff and a shrug about how she was disagreeing with him at the start. His facial expression said a lot, and he was speaking from the heart, and even though she couldn't remember their life together, Zaria felt like she could trust him. Him mentioning how they do, in fact, live together now, was interesting information - he must have really swept her off her feet after the failed and awful marriage to have her actually move in with another man. "I probably knew you were around but I felt safe enough to write down stuff with you there. Which says a lot."the redhead pointed out. "I journaled since I can remember... Maybe reading through some of them from last five years can trigger some memories... or it can also be overwhelming, but it's probably worth it."she pointed out with a soft sigh. "Tell me something about you... like what do you do for work?"she asked. "And I understand, even though sedated right now, that this is certainly hard on you, too so if you need a break and a breather, you're free to get up and do so."
a defence mechanism that had worked in his favour, because alex had enjoyed arguing with her, had enjoyed the debate and the conversation, far more than reaching any kind of conclusion. his gaze dropped to his hands when zaria said she must have felt safe around him. it shouldn't have meant so much, but it did. and if she had been journalling, that meant there may be evidence of their relationship in her own hand, not just what alex was telling her. in light of the current circumstances, she was more likely (and wholly justified) to believe herself more than alex. "maybe," he nodded in agreement. "but you shouldn't push yourself. you should do it when you feel ready." he wanted to make it clear that, as unfortunate as the situation was, there was no rush and certainly no pressure or expectation from him. "i work for my father. his company - carrington industries - i'm the chief operations officer." amongst other things which were he probably wouldn't mention at this point. or ever, if he could get away with it.
Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she saw Lyra approach the car. There were those nice butterflies in her stomach going wild before the date, and they were absolutely unhinged right now. This was a big deal for her, it's been forever now that she's been on a date, especially with such gorgeous woman like Lyra.
"Hi."she murmured with a smile and looked over the others outfit, it was very well put together and she liked the subtle ways in which she revealed some of her skin. "Oh, thanks - I don't wear dresses that often due to work because I like to sit in funny positions while drawing."she chuckled. "You look gorgeous, I like that button-up shirt."Gen smirked and willed herself to glue her eyes away from her so she'd get the car going from her place. She made a few clicks on her phone to make sure the navigation was taking them to the location before speaking up. "So, how have you been? Did you manage to sleep a bit after your shift last night?"Gen asked as her eyes stayed focused on the road.
lyra felt her cheeks go warm at genevieve's compliment, then glanced down at the shirt. "this old thing?" she said casually, as if she hadn't spent a ridiculously long time selecting an outfit. "just something i pulled out of the back of my closet." she shrugged as if it were no big deal and then laughed. "actually i changed about four times before settling on this, so i'm glad you like it." she settled in her seat as genevieve busied herself with her phone. "i've been okay. work wasn't too bad. busy, but no major traumas, which is about as peaceful as it gets." it felt strange to be in the passenger seat. she wasn't used to someone else driving her around. "not as much as i probably should have, but enough to function." she smiled ruefully. she didn't admit that the reason she hadn't been able to immediately fall asleep was because she was so keyed up about their date. "what about you, how have you been?"
“yeah, well, i was trying to maintain to get through it. no use to in talking about how miserable this is. that's not going to help either of. and we're in this together. if one of us goes down, we both do.” olivia nodded sadly and looked off, dwelling on her old life for a beat. she didn't like to think about how much she missed it. “i'm really good at pretending to be happy. came with the last career that i had before … all this.” she looked back at him when he agreed to come with her. “good. no one's going to care if we leave early. we can be that couple who likes to make an appearance and then make their irish goodbye exit." looking him over, “need to change your shirt.”
magnus watched olivia's expression change as her thoughts drifted elsewhere. he didn't need to ask what she was thinking about, he knew. his thoughts tended to drift off someplace else multiple times a day, thinking about home and everything he had left behind. he wondered if they would ever be able to go back, or if they would be stuck in this charade forever. the thought exhausted him, but he couldn't envision this ending and getting to go back. or, at least, he didn't dare envision it. he didn't dare give himself hope only to have it crushed. "sounds like a plan," he agreed wearily. he still didn't want to go, but he could endure it for an hour if only to further enmesh theirselves into the small town community they had been placed in. "my shirt?" he looked down at himself before looking back up, confused. "what's wrong with my shirt?"
"Because if I tell you, it makes you a witness, maybe even an accessory in what I do", he puts the gun down, pointing away from her to make sure she couldn't be hit, even accidentally.
"I should have never approached you, let alone got you close, but you were there, and I was weak. Forgive me, meleğim...", he felt the way his hands started trembling, the term of endearment that usually rolled so easily off his tongue a desperate attempt to calm his own nerves.
It was the first thought in his head when he saw her. That she was an angel who walked the earth, and she bothered to give him the time of day. It was what tempted him, drew him closer to her and falling into her arms had been so easy, no matter how many times he swore to himself it would be the last. That he would not taint her with his bloodstained hands, but he couldn't just leave. He felt like she was holding his beating heart in her hands, whether she knew it or not. But it was selfish to want his angel close, and the booming voice of his father echoed through the back of his head, reminding him of the commandments that Serkan Fahir had drilled into him from an early age. Laws that no one outside the family would ever even begin to fathom, and how it was Arslan's duty to make sure that no one would ever stand in their way.
"I have blood on my hands. So much more than you can imagine"
she had always known there was something. a part of his life, a part of him that he kept hidden from her. she hadn't pushed, hadn't asked questions. she was wondering now if perhaps she should have. he had kept her in the dark, let her bury her own head in the sand, for the sake of protecting her, but she didn't feel protected now. she felt broken and betrayed. he had killed people. a lot, by the sounds of it. he hadn't said it explicitly but it was clear from the way he phrased it. "there was never any future for us, was there?" she realised. "and you've known that all along, haven't you?" she laughed, though there was no humour in the sound. "god, i'm so stupid." she kept laughing, the sound starting to border on hysterical. "i don't even know what i'm supposed to do with this. am i supposed to walk away and pretend this never happened? should i go to the police? what? what am i supposed to do?"
