he can’t breathe– those few simple words easily shove into his chest, covering the shattered pieces of soul within, covering them in nothing but darkness. they stand above on a ledge where several civilians have fallen below them. it hurts, it feels like the world around him is closing in on him to stop his breathing entirely. he tries to stop his hands from shaking by clasping onto the hilt of his cane. troubled golden brown eyes close in concentration.

‘ …….. because this was impossible to stop… ruby please go find the others. ‘ this was his fault, he’d gotten them killed, he’d gotten Qrow and Glynda killed in the process as he’s lowering his head down into a thoughtful pose, wanting to keep himself from reacting too out of character.
