Greg said kill 'em
Through a bizarre series of events I just got off the phone with Gregory Alan Isakov....
I asked him for his best studio advice since Redhoney is working on our first full-length album as I type this. . .
After a long pause he said,
"When you're in there, whatever you do, there is no more you after that moment. The only thing that stays around after the recording is the recording. There is no more you, only the feel of that record and the feel of what you did."
I was blown away by the beauty of this, even though part of me was starstruck like a schoolgirl.
"And whatever you do (another decent size pause), don't release it until it FEELS good."
Aiiight, Mr. Isakov -- I got you.
