he really can’t resist an opening like that.
fingers press solidly against the panels that light up, their blue grow wholly anachronistical to the surrounding structure, Loki laughs. there’s an accompanying tune from the sceens - he’d thought there might be. splendid. words curl on his tongue, then, his curved form still intent on the panels even as he speaks, idle, as if they are friends.
❝ your opinion on me has changed, I see.
I’d no idea we’d become so close. ❞
a mockery, of course, of JARVIS’ words.
&& even while he derides Tony and makes himself known, he filters the information displayed on the screens to what he needs ( maps of the complex, and other pertinent files ). curious, that Tony Stark would be here too, ( potentially a concern ). no matter if they’re after the same treasure - the man appears to be here alone.
Loki smiles, bland, contrasting the warmth of his laughter. - he’s found exactly what he needs; his measured step is quick, echoing sharply. a single step is all it takes, his goal the area just to the side of the screens. best to disable them permanently now that he’s seen the information. best to stay ahead of his new opponent in this unexpected game.
the languid swing of his muscle strung TAUT in an instant, like water stiffening to ice beneath winter’s bony finger. it was the same languid tenor that had lived only in Tony’s night terrors for the past three years—— familiar yet crippling all at once. the laughter skated down his spine like a ghoul, sending tremors out through his fingertips before Tony balled them to FISTS and swung in place to find him.
Loki appeared wholly unchanged from the last time they’d been face to face, with chains bound to his wrists and a muzzle fitted over his treasonous mouth. Tony recalled the pride that ballooned in his chest that afternoon at the sight of him, glowering in his defeat as he was toted off to face judgement. though perhaps the Asgardian prisons weren’t as RUTHLESS as Tony had expected them to be, much to his disappointment.
❝ it’s recently been scientifically proven that absence truly does makes the heart grow fonder. ❞ he replied dryly, the sour smile wrinkling at the corners of his mouth as he lessened the distance between them with a series of long strides. despite the outcome of their most recent dispute, ( being thrown from a skyscraper IS exhilarating… ), Tony stood proud and resilient in his path, the sneer curled faintly at his upper lip.
❝ you’re stupider than i thought if you think you’re getting away that easily ❞
