“Why don’t they just kiss already?”
Jasmine and Anthony really thought they were being secretive about their relationship, or whatever they were calling their friendship at that point in time. It’s not that they thought the cast would be opposed to them dating, it was more the fact that things were happening quicker than either of them thought it would, and it made them nervous to hear what the cast would think about that.
Renee spends her break with Lin and Daveed, the two of them looking across the room at Anthony and Jasmine. Sometimes it had seemed like they thought they were the only people in the room, flirting and playing up for each other in a way that no one had ever thought would happen.
“Are they a thing yet?” Daveed asks, taking a sip of his water as he looks between Lin and Renee. Both of them quickly shake their heads, Lin sighing as he reaches for a snack from the table that had once been full of them, but had quickly been depleted.
“They keep saying they’re taking it slow, that they want to wait until they’re more confident and they know each other better, and then they’ll talk about dancing,” Lin explains, shifting his attention back to Jasmine and Anthony. “I don’t know, it sounds ridiculous to me, I mean look at them,” He shrugs, hearing both Renee and Daveed laugh behind him.
The three of them watch almost creepily from afar, and while they feel a little awkward doing so, it’s almost like they can’t look away. Renee can’t remember if she’s ever seen someone fall in love the way they’re witnessing Jasmine and Anthony fall in love, although she thinks that this is going to be the most memorable one.
“Why don’t they just kiss already?” Renee asks, forgetting that she was thinking out loud and that wasn’t something that ran through her mind. She hears both Daveed and Lin laugh, Lin looking over in Renee’s direction with a smile on his face.
“Do we really want to see that?” He asks, and Renee only shrugs, the smile getting more apparent. “Then again, they are being that sickeningly cute version of a new relationship that we’ve all seen before.”
“And yet somehow this has made them even cuter,” Daveed shakes his head, the three of them grateful to hear the end of break, slowly making their way back out to the rehearsal floor, waiting around for their next instruction.
Renee jabs both Daveed and Lin in the sides when she notices Jasmine and Anthony kiss quickly, the three of them sharing a quick and quiet cheer celebrating what they had witnessed. It feels like a victory in their own mind, but a battle that Jasmine and Anthony knew nothing of.
While it was creepy to cheer them on from afar, Renee, Pippa and Lin felt like they couldn’t help it. There was something about watching their relationship and feeling nothing but good feelings stem from it, praying that it was always as amazing as it seems to be in that moment, where everything felt perfect.
