About a month ago, my friends @scarlessmeanie and @beanoweens set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Remember the Aggro Crag from Nickelodeon Guts? Every time I hike Bonticou Crag in the Shawanagunks I get flashbacks to my childhood. You don't win anything for making it to the top except getting to enjoy the crazy views, but those are pretty sweet. (at Mohonk Preserve)

The summit of Alander (#37 in my upcoming guide) is unusually open for the area - unobstructed views for miles. I was hoping to try out some star photography, but once it was "dark," it was crazy to see how much light pollination there was coming from the seemingly-uninhabited valley below. Even an area that feels like the middle of nowhere when you're driving through it isn't nearly as free from the touch of human civilization as you'd think. (at Alander Mountain)

Camped at this vaguely creepy backwoods cabin last night and couldn't fall asleep because there was an animal right outside the door making what sounded like extremely loud farting sounds. (at Alander Mountain)

Headed up to New Hampshire this weekend to find some snow. Apparently I could have just been patient, but this view of Liberty was worth the drive alone. (at Franconia Notch, White Mountains)

Watching the trailer for the new Mission Impossible movie and what do I see but Tom Cruise dangling off the cliffs of Preikestolen. Good choice: this might be the coolest place in the entire world that I've personally visited. (at Preikestolen)

Been a while since I've taken any photos that I've really loved... guess I got photographers block. Kind of funny that my favorite winter photos of the last year are all from June. (Norway, man.)
