Dell decided to get in line with the rest of the world and release a tablet just like any other tablets. Or is Dell Streak Pro more special? If the rumours said that this baby would come with a T25 Tegra 2 silicon running at 1.2GHz and offering 3D support, I am sorry to disappoint you, but the rumours were wrong. Fujitsu LifeBook TH 40/D Convertible Laptop Comes With Atom Z670 For The Price of $990 [Release in June]

When it comes to laptops, I wish I could say there is nothing they can do to amaze me. The new Fujitsu LifeBook TH 40/D sure does, if you look at the picture above. It seems to have a very unique way to open, like a convertible car. Maybe it’s the Lamborghini of the laptops.

Now that everythings is clear (it’s quite good looking), let’s get into the more interesting details. The convertible laptop comes with a 1.5GHz Oak Trail Atom Z670 and a quite limited RAM – 1 GB (non-expandable) DDR2 RAM. That’s obviously not enough for me, considering the fact that the tablet comes with Windows 7, 1 GB of RAM would not satisfy me. But, let’s move on, maybe we can find something more appealing. When it comes to storage, the laptop offers 120GB HDD and in what concerns connectivity, I would have nothing to complain about: 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, some USB 2.0 ports, HDMI-out, an SD card slot.

All those can be found in the 2.4-pound laptop. Back to the visuals, you’ll get  a 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 touchscreen and a small (quite small) optical trackpad that is next to the short space bar. Focus, focus and take a better look. It’s there!  If you are tempted by the small things and what this convertible laptop can offer you, it has just been launched on the Japanese market. If you’re prepared for some shopping, then you must wait until June, when it is the release date, and keep aside around $990 for Fujitsu Lifebook TH40/D.

Skylink Xpad Is The First GLONASS And GPS Enabled Russian Tablet

We have tablets from all around the world. Then why shouldn’t we get one from Russia? Especially that we are talking about Skylink Xpad, the first GLONASS-enabled tablet. What’s so special about it?

The Russian provider Skylink has one goal in its mind: to establish a new trend in the line of future navigation devices. This tablet has support both for GPS and GLONASS navigation. It has an 7-inch display, it will run on Froyo (Android 2.2) and it comes with a 800MHz processor 512MB of RAM and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Impressive and not, maybe the Russians wanted to focus more on the navigational abilities and would play on that card. Xpad will use data from both satellite positioning systems for increased accuracy in urban environments.

The Skylink Xpad will be available in Russia in Q4 2011 and will be sold for the price of about $500.

For the ones wondering, GLONASS is the Russian alternative to GPS. It’s also Putin’s pride. Both China and the European Union are secretly planning to launch their own “GPS” counterpart but for the time being they are only in the wishing phase. Russians already have their own GPS and they have alreay launched a smartphone that comes with Glonass support. Now they also have a tablet. What’s next?
