okay so i caught up with the show. my boyfriend and I just finished the last episode and we're super lit right now. I just had the most massive mcu theory ever and I really hope I can make sense of it here lol. I've been talking to my boyfriend about it for a solid hour and this is what we think is going down.

fake coulson is actually real coulson, but hus memory was wiped. we all know that agents of shield is about to start tying into the mcu, so perhaps this is how they are doing it? multiverse theory. deke had mentioned the theory before, as if to foreshadow this season maybe? the theory is, the illuminati verse where tony, strange, reed richards and black panther are the illuminati (in the comics) and they found out that they had to destroy another earth to save their earth.

SO THIS IS WHAT THEY DO.

they tell coulson (who is alive and the Avengers know he's alive and working for SHIELD) they have a mission for him. but they can't send him to destroy an innocent version of earth in another universe and him just be okay with it. no. they do they SHIELD thing and wipe his brain, give him fake memories and a fake life. but a real mission. "kill these creatures because the results of their existence is catastrophic" but in reality the illuminati sent brainwashed coulson there to unknowingly release these winged parasites. he thinks he's helping, but he's only being tricked into doing exactly what the illuminati needs him to do.

they used coulson because they knew he would be a familiar, trust-worthy face to the only people who could stop him, and it would make them hesitate and want to learn more and eventually they will team up with him because they think they are fighting for the same cause.

that's why the name coulson is familiar to him. that's probably why he captured may, because she was familiar too and coulson being coulson can't stop digging for information when he feels something is amiss.

❖ the door blows out, knocking the large alien she had been speaking to unconscious. however, that wasn’t the last thing she expected. no, the last thingjemma expected was to see was fitz be on the other side of the door, staring at her in just as much disbelief. her vision is still extremely impaired, colors surround him as though she’s seeing his aura as tears fill her eyes and her heart beats rapidly. ❛ fitz… ❜ her lower lip trembles as much as her soft voice.

please don’t be a hallucination.

unfortunately, the pair don’t have time to embrace or even speak before someone appears out of nowhere. jemma can hardly trust her eyes, unsure if what she is seeing is even real ― but daisy arrives just in the knick of time to blast the baddie with her powers before he’s able to get his hands on fitz. her aim is getting a little better, considering their situation. the inhuman is still slurring her words and briefly greets the long, lost friend they’ve travelled all this way for before telling them to get back to the zephyr & she would catch up.

enoch takes the lead and jemma latches onto fitz’s hand, afraid to ever let him go again. enoch tells jemma that she should not be here, as she tries to explain where they came from to get back to the zephyr. she’s so highly impaired, she gets them lost before piper appears like a saving grace to get them back to safety.

❖ back on the zephyr, jemma takes a step closer to fitz and looks him directly in his eyes. she has to make sure this is real. to make sure he is real. both of her hands are lifted to cup his face between them, her thumbs stroke the stubble on his jaw. ❛ if this isn’t a hallucination then… the dolphins were right & i’m not going crazy, ❜ she says with a smile, confidence in her words.

’ oh yeah… simmons, daisy and davis accidentally ate space drugs, so… ’ piper explains, hoping to make fitz a little less confused.

❖ Utter confusion were the only words that could describe how Fitz felt after he busted down the seal door. He didn’t know what he was going to see on the other time. A police-like group that guarded the casino they were just scamming seemed like the most likely option given the situation. Jemma, who was supposed to be in the far future, was an utter surprise. Honestly, Fitz questioned if maybe bits of door had hit him on the head during the explosion. It would explain why Jemma was standing before him in a ridiculous space casino that felt like it was pulled straight from star wars. 

Though the addition of bangs on his hallucination would very random. Honestly,  it had been years since he’d last seen Jemma Simmons with bangs. Maybe even over a decade. “…Jemma?” 

Her name barely escapes his mouth before someone comes to grab him. This was much more like what he was expecting to be greeted with on the other side of the door. Too stunned by the sudden appearance of Jemma, Fitz’s brain doesn’t work fast enough to move out of the way of his attempted-captor. Just as quickly as the man appeared, he is flung against the nearest wall. Fitz’s eyes fall upon Daisy Johnson. 

Yeah. Definitely not a hallucination now. 

Though there is something wrong with Daisy and Fitz can’t put his finger on what as Enoch emerges from the room. He  hears him say something about how Daisy and Jemma shouldn’t be there but Jemma is the only one who has Fitz’s attention 

It becomes even more evident that whatever was wrong with Daisy also affected Jemma. While normally he could understand her with such ease, even Fitz was scratching his head at most of the things she was muttering on about. Fitz was about to comment to Enoch that maybe Daisy wasn’t the best guide for them to be following as they passed the same corridor for the third time as Piper saved them from literally running in circles. 

❖ Normally Fitz would have gladly welcomed any of Jemma’s touches. But his excitement to see her again was started to edge away as concern for her took precedent. “Dolphins?” 

He turns his head toward Piper was much as Jemma’s grip would allow. “That… makes a worlds more sense. I guess I should be thankful I wasn’t the one accidentally quaked.” He heard Enoch comment about how the three must have eaten one of the treats that were offered to Fitz earlier that day given how they were responding. “So we have three extremely high agents on an alien planet. Please tell me we have enough resources to get home”

❖ ' i can get us home. davis is a little too messed up to fly us out of here, but i think i can handle it, ' piper tells fitz confidently with a nod, ' it's good to have you back, agent fitz. agents simmons never gave up on you. ' she adds with a nod & a smile, before rushing to the control room just as daisy makes it back.

' guys, i think i bought us some time, but we gotta get outta here like yesterday, ' daisy pants heavily, placing her hands on her knees to catch her breath. that's when she looks over at fitz and her smile widens, ' so everyone can see him right ? i'm not just tripping dick ? ' she asks, just to make sure.

❛ it's really him, he's really here, ❜ jemma confirms as she continues to cradle her husband's face between her loving hands, stroking his scruffy cheeks with the pads of her thumbs. it's at this point she begins tearing up once again, the reality of the situation hitting her like a ton of bricks. she finds herself so overwhelmed by her emotions, she can't suppress her sob as she clings to him tightly, burying her face into the crook of his neck.

❛ oh, god, i've missed you so much ― i knew you would be here, i just knew you would be, ❜ her voice is shaken and muffled against his neck, ❛ it's been so long, but i wouldn't have been able to live with myself if i'd given up on you, because you've never once given up on me. ❜ she's rambling, and it's a wonder if he can even understand her blubbering into the crook of his neck.

daisy feels the emotions as well & she succumbs to her own sobs and joins in on the embrace, ' jemma, you were right about everything, even the dolphins. i'm so happy we got you back, fitz. '
