I went to Cordoba, Argentina while on a promotional tour in South America a few months ago and I showed a song we had written called "Take that Pill" to some film makers friends there. The song is a sarcastic ode to our Pill popping society, given that I don't do any drugs or drink any alcohol anymore and haven't for quite some time. My Argentinian friends fell in love with the melody and lyrics and we began brainstorming ideas for a music video which included dressing me up as Pac Man and having me chase around ghosts; having me take pills from a dog and going sexually crazy, and doing a choreographed dance. So somehow, we incorporated all three ideas and the result is this music video. Many people have watched it half way and complained that we were celebrating drug use when in actuality, the Nancy Reagan message at the end confirms that we are just pocking fun of what we consider to be a prescription epidemic on earth. We wrote this song while recording in the studio and constantly losing track of time, money, and personal possessions; and I constantly exclaimed, "if we only had an assistant"; our assistant could even do the recordings for us, and then the concept developed until we thought it would be great to have assistants to even write the songs for us and go on tour in our stead. Here are the lyrics:

We shot this video in September 2012 at Cali Camp in Topanga, California. I had been writing songs over the internet with Rudi Meibergen, who is German/Chilean (I'm Californian/Chilean), and we finally met up in Santiago, Chile and recorded our first set of songs together as Ready Never. After constantly losing sessions, misplacing folders, forgetting files, and multi--tasking to the point of being counter-productive, we decided that what we really needed was an assistant, and "Assistant Press Play" was born! Later, I flew back to Los Angeles and met Katie the monkey, a star in her own right! You've seen her as "Marcel" in the show "Friends" and in various movies. I realized that even this famous monkey needed an assistant, so I asked her if she would play the part of "Charles the Ready Never keyboardist" in the video, helping us interview models and actresses for job of Charles' assistant. The music video for "Tell Me" was directed by my old friend Dennis Burkley (we watch football together). Dennis was the voice of Principal Moss in the "King of the Hill" series. Anyway, we'd always wanted to work together. "Tell Me" is about relationships both business and personal, fear and confrontation. So the video was about me having a dream that I went around taking Ready Never PR to the street (dressed like a chicken!).
