In her previous life, Caitlin Snow had been a bio-engineer at S.T.A.R. Labs. She had her husband, her friends and a good reputation in Central city; but all that changed when the Particle Accelerator malfunctioned. Ronnie Raymond died, her reputation was lost and she’d mutated into a horrible metahuman known as Killer Frost. She didn’t want her powers and she definitely didn’t want to be a killer or to burden her mother with the responsibility of finding a cure for her condition — so she had herself frozen at a lab and waited until a year that would most likely possess the technology she needed to finally rid herself of her metahuman DNA.
What she didn’t realize before she froze herself was that all of her friends and family were long gone. In her mind, there was the small possibility that the Flash may still be alive, but her new job at the cryogenics lab kept her so busy that she hadn’t had the time to look for him.
“Welcome to the world of tomorrow….”
As Caitlin read the introduction off her chart, she wondered if the company realized how corny it sounded and made a mental note to suggest a less corny introduction to her supervisor the next time she saw him. “My name is Dr. Snow and I’ll be helping you through this process of being unfrozen. Now, let’s get you to the probulator Mr….Raymond?”
Caitlin Froze as she read the first name on her patients and looked at the man who’s chamber had just unlocked and blinked several times before regaining finally regaining her composure. “Ronnie??? Is that you?” He looked a little different after being frozen, but he was still fairly easy for her to recognize after all these years.
It was a little over two years after the singularity event that Ronnie Raymond’s life came to another, intended, temporary end. There were many unforeseen events, that followed his state of stasis, in which ultimately prolonged it. Events that would come to work out in many ways to Ronnie’s favor, when he finally awakes back into the world of the living.
Now at present, minutes ago, Ronnie had woken inside a cryogenic bed. The instant that the door to the bed had opened a male nurse had stuck a needle into Ronnie’s arm, injecting him with something. Being in a fog of sleep, Ronnie was barely aware of this happening. He could barely recall the moments from changing from the clothes he had been frozen in, going into patient attire and now sitting on a med bed.
Due to his foggy head and confusion, he wasn’t sure where he was or what he was suppose to be doing. Ronnie heard the door of the room, he had been ushered into by the male nurse, open upon another person entering into the room. Pulling his gaze away from the ‘Applied Cryogenics of New New York’ sign on the wall, he turned his head to look at the female whom had started speaking the moment she entered the room.
Ronnie’s expression was blank, only because of the state that his mind was within. Still in a fog of confusion. However, a few seconds passed and his expression shifted to surprise. The fog of his mind clearly away quickly as he stared at that familiar face that held an expression that he was sure he was mimicking perfectly. Surprise. “Cait?” his voice was raspy and harsh, one of many side effects of being frozen. He cleared his throat and went to move off the med bed. Moving slowly towards her, stopping a foot away from her as he reached out and grabbed her arm. Confirmation that she was real and standing right before him.
