so, re-reading the fraction run has refreshed me brain on some things so y’all can have a quick study post as a treat. 

first off, i’d like to mention that i cherry pick the hell out of comics, no runs are perfect and no runs are consistent or the same, so with that said i’d like to point out KATE DOES NOT TAKE LUCKY FROM CLINT.

i never liked the idea of her just straight up taking this man’s dog. but not only that like ... clint needs lucky. so just assume that never happened. n e ways. 

i love the idea of kate setting her own path and trying to figure herself out but damn if she doesn’t struggle. she fails a lot on her own. she messes up but manages to swing it back around to make the job work for her some of the time but overall she’s painfully aware of how much of a mess she makes in the process. near the end of her little escapade with madame masque, she realizes that super hero stuff isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. not that she really ever had that ideal but it sort of gets rudely thrown in her face right there at the end. 

she asks over and over what’s the point because all that’s going to happen is the whole thing being washed over. the bad guys are going to get let out again. then the cycle continues. so, what’s the point? luckily kate makes a few friends in L.A. that show her that she is a hero, even if she messes up a couple of times here and there and even if it all looks lost she’s still a hero because she tries and sometimes -- she even succeeds! 

being a hero isn’t always having results, its making the attempt to make those results happen. even if you fail you get right back up again. even if you get knocked down ... you get up again. no matter what you get up and that is what makes a hero. the urge to keep getting up and keep going. isn’t that the very ideal clint instilled within her? 

she has these wavering points, where it all looks to be for nothing -- but when she sees the results of the good she’s done and when she sees the friends she’s got at her back that’s what makes her keep going. that’s what makes her a hero.

               jokes on his little pupil, he was only about half asleep when the kernal plopped into his mouth. he merely chews on the piece before he’s raising a hand and flipping off his platonic other half.   “    don’t be rude, hawkeye.   ”   the archer grumbles before rubbing at his eyes and sitting up. groaning at his wrapped abdomen, the ribs that were screaming at him for having dared to move.   “   …. is this still that romance you were going on about? The Notepad?   ”

     “ me? rude? you’re the one sounding like a busted train over there! ”  she scoffs before artfully shoving half a handful of popcorn into her mouth. its a good thing she’s done chewing and swallowing by the time he butchers the name of the movie. she doesn’t know whether to laugh or scoff at him.  “ the notebook first of all. that hurts. right in my core. ”  seems shock is the preferred route to take here.  “ and yes! it is! maybe if you actually watched a little bit of it you wouldn’t have to call me every time you wanna woo your speedster. ”

     easy does it, bishop. just like clint taught you. relax. slow your breathing, relax your hand, aaaaand --  the piece of popcorn follows through the air in a perfect arch and lands in clint’s open and snoring mouth.  “ bullseye! ”  she makes no regards to keeping quiet as she cheers, her opposite hand fist bumping the air.  “ wake up!! your snoring is ruining the move, old man. ”

the sudden intrusion into his apartment has him jumping slightly on the couch that he was still asleep on.   “   i’m up!   ”   the words rush out of him before he’s pausing and groaning with a slight headache. happened anytime he accidentally fell asleep with his hearing aids in and on. he drags a hand down his face before his attention turns to katie who is making herself comfortable in his apartment,   “   why are you here?   ”   he questioned with drawn brows before it hit him. yesterday he had told her early practice after sassy remarks. 

another groan leaves the archer as he pushes up from his spot and trudged over to where his coffee was currently sitting. he lifts the cup, breathing in the addictive liquid before nodding,   “   i knew there was a reason why i kept you around as a pupil.   ”   lips form a smirk as he takes a few sips,   “   you’ve got until i’m done showering and changed to wake up and be ready.   ”   honestly it was more him that needed to do the waking up as he headed for the bathroom.

        “ ... you’re kidding. right? ”  she did not wake up before the sun only for him to completely forget that she was supposed to have early training today. she could have very easily slept in and arrived at a much later time and everything would have been perfect.  “ clint barton you’ve officially made it onto my shit list for the day. ”  she’ll get over it, though. maybe. eventually. she waves him off as he gets up and goes towards the bathroom.  “ yeah, yeah. whatever. ”  she sips at her coffee a bit, taking up the spot now freed up on the couch.  “ take your time, i guess. ”

                          BOTH  HER  HANDS  LIFTED      …        in  a  look  of  surrender  as  she  listened  to  kate’s  argument.    she  had  a  point,  but  to  verbalize  it  seemed,  well,  as  if  she  was  condoning  it.        "    it  was  good.    i  will  admit  that  to  you.    but  have  you  been  to  the  jewish  deli  down  the  block?    "      she  asked,    waving  vaguely  down  the  street.            THEN  A  CRASH  COULD  BE  HEARD  BEHIND  HER.        wanda  turned  her  head  sharply.  

     “ i haven’t, maybe next week we -- ”  stop. what was that? is there any such thing as a day off to the superhero business? well, she knows the answer to that questions even though she doesn’t want to.  “ we’re checking that out right? ”  she asks, looking at wanda.  “ yeah. totally. we’re checking that out. ”

“   i don’t know what you’re talking about.   ”   but he does, otherwise he wouldn’t be trying so damn hard to not look her in the eye. anything to avoid seeing the sympathy written in her features. he’d gotten enough of it over the past few days, not that he had actually left his flat very often. a few briefings he was required to attend in order to not get lectured. although he primarily kept to himself. glasses on to hide the dark circles beneath his eyes. no quips were made, no interuptions, none of his usual gags in order to keep things light. didn’t have the energy to hold it up. all he could feel was the rotting weight of pietros words sitting in the pit of his stomach. you’re not worth my time. left on repeat constantly tumbling over each other in his head. the one person he never wanted to let done — to push away, had been the one to wreck him entirely. most days he felt like he was suffocating with his self hatred. the poor me act. his heart was broken and he was not dealing with it well.   “   just leave me alone, kate.   ”

        oh, she could wring that speedster’s neck. she won’t but she could. it doesn’t take a genius or whatever to realize that clint’s broken up pretty bad over this and although she doesn’t know the whole detail on the matter -- she sure as hell is aware of how nasty pietro can be sometimes.  “ you know i’m not stupid, right? ”  i don’t know what you’re talking about. pfeh. can’t use that old trick on me. kate. not katie. just kate. this isn’t right. she’s tired of seeing him so... so not him.  “ clint. i’m not leaving you alone. that’s the last thing you need right now. ”
