{☆}….Raven was grateful to the gentleman as he tried to steady her, it was something unneeded but it was still very thoughtful. She smiled softly “It is quite alright, I’m sure I’m to blame as well, I just turned the corner and didn’t think to look” She replied before making the books hover around them for her to see which books belonged to the other. She chuckled softly grabbing all the children books from the air to hand back to the other. “Either you have a child who loves to read or you really enjoy picture books” she replied kindly before placing the remaining book on a table nearby them.
Every time Scott saw someone use magic in a responsible way, it made Scott feel like a kid again. When it was some villain running around and turning people into ducks, that was a whole different problem. “Okay, that’s really cool,” he admitted as he took the childrens books from her.”
Like a proud dad, Scott beamed at the chance to talk about Cassie. “Don’t get me wrong, I am very comfortable at this reading level, but yeah, they’re for my daughter. I figured we’d take a break from Goosebumps for a bit and try something new now that Halloween is over. This place has got a great selection, I got really lucky.”
Damian decided that he had seen enough. He entered the room and leaned against the nearest wall, crossing his arms. He made his presence known by making a scoffing noise. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?” He asked in a slightly smug tone, shrugging his shoulders. The vigilante raised an eyebrow at the other person. “Because I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
Scott had sold a few extra security cameras and decided to treat himself to an ice cream cone. It wasn’t until he’d paid for his triple scoop Jamoca almond fudge, German chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream in a cone that he realized that his shoe was also untied. He only noticed this because he’d managed to step on it and nearly face planted into the counter. The obvious solution was to hold his head sideways so he could keep the cone in his mouth while he bent over to tie his shoes. He would have gotten away with it too if someone didn’t call out to him.
“Wha-?” he asked reflexively, and the cone fell out of his mouth. Without thinking, he made a grab for the cone. Instead, he grabbed the ice cream. “Aww, dang it. Hey, can you grab me a cup for… this?”

Kori was no stranger to Manhattan, having visited plenty of times with the Titans and in her career. She couldn’t believe she lived here now especially when she spent most of her time on the West Coast. With the population increasing, she worried of how it would affect everyone. On Tamaran, she felt that this would be handled differently. “Hello!” She greeted someone who had been sitting on a bench in the middle of the park. After so many years spent on Earth, she had adjusted well but had so much to still process. “It is a most pleasant day! I have visited the place of markets and purchased ten organges for ten dollars. That is quite the stealing!” She bit into a wedge. “Would you like to taste one? The house is on it!”
The trick to not feeling caged it was to go outside. It had worked in prison, windows and yard time were coveted. Scott took a lot of walks these days, most of them took him to the nearby park. Grass and animals and the sky. Today he’d come around earlier than normal, shut up the shop and ducked into the park to relax a moment. He nodded at the woman who was walking by, but was a little surprised she spoke to him.
“Hello!” He figured it would be kind of rude to tell her how to talk, especially since he knew what she was getting at and those oranges did look really good. “That is a really good deal. If you don’t mind sharing, I would love to try one. I’m Scott Lang, nice to meet you.”
{☆}…..Rachel had just put the finishing touches on her bookstore it was to be the grand opening today. She had triple checked everything making sure that everything had been well stocked for the upcoming customers. She’d just been helping a certain customer by looking in the back for a book when she turned and run into someone else using her powers to keep the books from falling. “I’m sorry, been kind of busy today. Are you okay?”
Being separated from Cassie was difficult, but Scott was slowly coming up with ways to cope. At least it wasn’t prison. It had killed him to have her hear that the call was from prison every time he’d wanted to talk to her. Now there was FaceTime and texting and calling. He got videos of her soccer games and weekly calls. He got to read her bedtime stories, which brought him to this bookshop. Scott had been looking through the children’s section, trying to find something they could read after they finished Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. There were a few options he’d been contemplating, too deeply apparently since he didn’t see the young woman until they’d crashed into each other.
“My bad,” he apologized quickly and instinctively reached out to stabilize her. It became pretty clear, pretty fast she wasn’t in need so he pulled his hands back. “Sorry, I got caught up in your books. Um…” he motioned to a few of the ones floating. “I think those ones are mine.”
