Reason 853,472 to fucking loathe Youtube ads: you can't even Rickroll people properly anymore!

I just got Rickrolled by a post on here, it was well executed and I totally fell for it. But when I opened the link (on mobile, I have three overlapping adblockers on desktop) fuckass ads started playing, and I had more than enough time to see the title of the video before I ever heard the song. The surprise was spoiled, the effect ruined!

Back in my day, you clicked on a Rickroll link and instantly those iconic opening notes would start playing, slapping you in the face with Never Gonna Give You Up and letting you know that they got your ass. Now the vile scourge of advertising has claimed even that.

Capitalism is trying to consume all of our whimsy and grind our spirits into dust. Every day I find it harder to keep from giving in to despair.
