@spooky-apostate
so. not to doxx myself (i've talked about this here before though) but i live in Kansas. and my license was just revoked very suddenly and immediately because i'm trans and had changed my gender marker.
so now i cannot legally drive or vote until/unless i let them force me to carry around a card that misgenders me and outs me as trans, because i certainly don't look female anymore.
so hey if you have the means and want to help with any of this, please consider donating to the ACLU of Kansas because they are at least going to try to do something to push back against this, and i'm such a panicky wreck that the only thing i can do to get through my immediate gut reaction to having my license revoked tonight (i cannot stress enough that i received the letter today saying that my license is no longer valid tomorrow) is focus on the fact that there's at least one entity trying to protect me and my fellow trans kansans.
More info on what's been happening in Kansas:

The provision was stricken late at night to appeal to hardline conservatives.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled du Bois posting to implore you to contact your senators and tell them to vote no on the budget. Trans people including me will lose their healthcare if this bill passes the Senate.
This post will be reposted several times in the next few days. Please spread it, post to other platforms, etc.
i don’t like reblogging heavy shit on my account but please contact your senators if possible. this bill also seeks to remove all medicaid coverage (meaning all care, not just gender affirming care) for patients at my employer, one of the larger clinic groups to offer hrt, and being a nonprofit that makes up the majority of the patient base nationwide. it will likely lead to clinic closures across the country within the medical group meaning even trans people with private insurance or that can afford self-pay costs will lose access to care. i’m really not looking forward to the possibility of losing my job and both my and all my patient’s access to hrt.
hey americans there is a recall on testosterone gel because they found benzene in it! please check the lot numbers on your batches, benzene is really not something you want to be rubbing into your skin, also you might be eligible for compensation because this is just insane what the fuck
The Drug Recall Report is for prescription drugs that are have recently been issued recalls by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
when it’s really bad again and it’s still way better than it used to be but it’s still really bad. and you do all the right stuff and you try and try and it still really hurts but it’s working but it still hurts and you go see the beautiful majesty of nature and your soul is so close to being at peace but your mind is still in pain. and it’s better but it’s still bad. and the sun is setting.
genuinely so scary that you can't access the page on the ssc website that guides you through changing your sex designation. so so fucking scary. they are already making our lives harder. they are already taking what little resources we have.
update on this, if people want to reblog this to spread information to any trans person who is getting their gender marker changed with social security after the executive order:
today i went and was able to change my gender marker along with my name with social security. even though the page that guides you has been taken down you are STILL ABLE to do so. here is a link to the way back machine for the page and here is a link to the form you will need and here is another source that can help you prepare for federal crackdowns
don't be deterred by the removal of the page. there is still time, but possibly not a lot of it. if you can do this fast, do it.
it's worth noting that it's FREE to change your gender marker with social security. when you change your gender marker with social security, what you change it to does NOT have to match your other current IDs.
double check your state policies, and what you will personally need, but the overall message of this post is that there is STILL TIME despite the executive order. don't give up hope.
do it now, do it now now now. my partner works in passports and visas and was alarmed to find the gender marker link dead the day after inauguration. do what you need ASAP

“El sueño de la razón…” 🥀
Here’s the full piece I made for the Claveles Zine, a lovely art project featuring Spanish artists. I decided to explore my complex relationship as an emigrant with my hometown, featuring some of its most beautiful imagery.
I’m so glad I can finally show you all the full piece, but I’m also so nervous. This is, naturally, a very personal piece for many reasons. I do hope you’ll enjoy it.
