I honestly don’t know how to start this post. But what I know is that I need to let this out. I need to take some time and thank these four lads, and Zayn for the impact they made in my life. Yes, I know that the chance of them seeing this is like winning the lottery, but these lads are just too special. Anyway, I guess I’d start with sharing to you my fangirl story.
This boy group was formed last 2010, July 23, 2010 to be exact. Back then, I had no idea who they were; all I knew was they were these five guys with three of them trying to look like Justin Bieber, a blonde guy, and a cute arabic guy (who’s my type, btw). I honestly did not liked them. I was not a fan of their first single too, What Makes You Beautiful. I don’t know, maybe it was because everyone in my school liked the song and it’s just too mainstream for me. So yeah, I hated them. (LOL) Fast forward to late 2011, my friend made me listen to their third single, One Thing (acoustic version), and right then and there I was converted. I really liked the song and played it hundred times a day. (Like seriously I think I played that one song everyday for a month non-stop) That’s how much I loved it. The next thing I know is that I was also attracted by their looks. I started googling some of their photos and even posted a picture of them in my Facebook timeline. Come 2012, they released Little Things (ahhhh! This will forever be my favorite song from them). To make the long story short, I fell in love with their song again. The lyrics, the tune, the music video, everything was just on point and made every girls’ heart melt. I loved it so much! And I still love it the way I loved it before (or maybe even more). But those days were just the “I-love-some-of-their-music-and-I-think-they’re-cute” days. Summer of 2013, my cousin was drop-dead in love with them. She watched every One Direction video there is, bought their first two albums in deluxe, and bought every single magazine that has 1D in it. As a curious person I am, I interviewed her on why she adored them so much. She explained and made me listen to their first two albums. (Fact: I immediately fell in love with Moments the first time I heard it) After listening to their albums, I knew that this guy group has the potential to capture every hopeless romantic person there is (just like me). I can vividly remember that one night where I caught my cousin and my baby sister jamming into Kiss You while watching the music video. They were singing and giggling. So, I watched the video with them. Their humor was the one that really caught me. They’re so crazy and funny and so cute and everything in between! (Ugh) That is why the next thing I knew was that I was already watching every music video, every video diary, every behind-the-scene video they have. I was in my room singing and giggling. I started stalking them, wanting to know every detail about them. It’s like the getting-to-know-each-other phase. And with every personal information I got, I felt closer and closer to them. I did that everyday, and I still do that. (I stalk, I support them, watch their videos, and listen to their music) The member I felt most attached with was Zayn (I know he isn’t a member of One Direction anymore blah blah blah). I seriously fell in love with him big time! To the point where my classmates called (and still calls) me Mrs. Malik, and to the point where I cried and everyone sincerely comforted me when Zayn and Perrie got engaged. But my dedication for the whole group also went on another level. I started staying up late for the live shows, buying some merchandises, collecting their albums, and of course earning and saving money for their concert. (I will forever be proud of myself for buying my own concert tickets.) Although, only four of them performed in their Philippine concert, I still consider that as the best concert ever and probably one of the best nights of my life. That experience was off the charts! It was a night with a lot of emotions and my heart is still bursting every time I recall. Seeing them live was a dream come true and the climax of my fairytale with them. That concert made me love each of them 10 times even more. I appreciated their individual talents and realized that I did not made a wrong choice in loving them and their music because they’re really good! But little did I know that that concert was their first and last concert (hopefully, for the mean time) in the Philippines. They’re going on a hiatus, a break, a rest.
After five years of non-stop working for us, the fans, I believe that they deserve this break. But I can’t help but feel a little emotional because these guys have literally been a part of my life for the past two years. After all the history we made, the tears we shed, the laughters we shared, my life will surely be different for the next two years they’ll be gone. All I hope for is for them to keep their promises and be back with a bang on 2017.
To Liam, Harry, Niall, and Louis: Thank you so much (and to Zayn as well). We know that we’ve done a lot of things for you guys but you have done a lot of things for us too. I believe in you, and you believe in me. You were there for me, I was there for you and I will always be at your side no matter what. And just like what you said, we are a team. And we surely are the greatest team the world has ever seen. Thank you for all the memories. I had no idea that I would fall for an artist like this. This only goes to show that you guys are epic. I love you for you and who you will be in the future. Thank you and may you have best rest days ever! Enjoy!
