i dont think spamton is hiding from image_friend(s) by going puppet mode
i think the idea that spamton got puppetfied in an attempt to evade a hunting pack of cats is a bit off the mark.
i can see where the connection comes from, but it doesn't really feel correct to me. why, in an attempt to Hide from a pink and yellow eyed entity, would someone wear pink and yellow glasses? wouldnt that be a constant reminder? wouldn't it, like, bring MORE attention from an entity and not ward it off? im sure people have their headcanons, and maybe canon will elaborate eventually. until then...
i posit this, at risk of sounding like fanfiction: spamton got a call. he went pale, he ran. tenna did not know where he went, and the phone line was dead. spamton was scared of something.
spamton's going nuts. he's losing it. he goes to the neo body and prays. whatever he's praying for, it fails.
later, an addison picks up the phone after spamton's lost everything. it spits out garbage noise.
spamton ran when his initial deal with WHOEVER went sour, and the reason he's a puppet is BECAUSE the consequences bit him in the ass. very, very hard. he got too cocky, toying with revealing trade secrets, and someone or someones decided to put him in his place. remind him exactly what he was: a puppet. he'd always been a puppet to them, but now it was literal. it was the price he had to pay to get Big.
spamton dresses up (poorly) as Swatch to try and get into queen's mansion, but the dual toned glasses dont match swatch's colors. and spamtons outfit is only sorta reminiscent of swatch's whole two-face color scheme going on. it almost feels as if the pink and yellow glasses are a sad attempt at trying to get back in with his old boss. going "look, look, I haven't betrayed you, I'm still useful, I'm one of your lackeys!" or maybe Just the glasses are the attempt at evading the cats. i guess it could mean a lot of things
people have thrown around the idea that ERAM the mantle boss guy is the one herding this pack of cats. it could be that eram IS or is working with the people who were stringing spamton along behind the scenes. eram certainly seems... violent and cruel enough to do some fucked up things from what we saw of it, little that may be.
almost done w this poll and i fr thought flowery (real) was going to take second place for a fat minute. like i totally rigged this poll in papyrus's favor (because i like papyrus and i am evil) and i thought that tenna would STILL have a fighting chance. but?? somehow flowery (real) has put up a damn good fight??

sorry. but papyrus is literally the silliest guy and the fact that the promo for chap5 said this would be the "last fun adventure" does not bode well for my man papyrus
