I went with the good old 'His Dark Materials' Dæmon Mix. This scene has Belle and her dæmon Lumea discovering Rumple's dæmon, after it was previously unknown to her that her master even had one.
Some ideas for this fusion, as well as the uncolored version and little timelapse under the Cut.
Belle's dæmon, Lumea, settled as a Barred Owl. She was also born female, making Belle one of the few people with a same-sex dæmon. It always made her stand out a bit at home. Gaston once said he wouldn't mind being surrounded by three lovely ladies, inluding his peacock dæmon Fleur, a comment that earned him a few weeks of silence from Belle.
Lumea tends to worry more, where Belle would bravely rush forward. For the first few weeks at Rumple's castle she was convinced they would end up as subjects for one of his magical experiments, because of their oddness. Rumple has in fact met a few same-sex pairings in his time and did not chose them because of it. He tells himself he chose them because it would be funny to have a princess cleaning his castle, but of course it's also because of loneliness.
His dæmon Minna, a Scottish Dunface Sheep, is kinder and more polite than him, but seems to be in a constant haze. She used to be more caring and motherly as well, but now she's withdrawn and wanders the dark castle, seemingly always in thought. Becoming the Dark One has driven a wedge between them and is the reason why they can stay far away from each other and be seperated for long stretched of time, but Rumple can't clearly remember if she became that way when he took on the curse, or when they lost Baelfire and Elkin. He does not like being confronted with the state of his dæmon, so he locked her away in the forbidden wing, but of course no one can keep Belle and Lumea from snooping while he's away.
Baelfire's Elkin hadn't settled yet when they fell through the portal, but she did like various birdforms, as well as taking the form of a lamb or a fawn.
It's been a while since I read the books but there is also the potential for Rumple doing really, really dark things in order to reunite with Bae, considering the methods they used to create portals to other dimensions in the first (?) book, but let's keep this light in comparison and just assume he's still going for the dark curse in this AU.
When I lived in London there was a murder of crows that lived near me. I fed them often, they brought me presents (shiny rubbish and cigarette butts they found on the floor to thank me.)
When I moved, I’m certain they understood I was leaving because I had all my stuff and gave them lots of food and compliments.
But, they chased down my friend who lived in the next burrough over. They had recognised that friend with me several times and followed them to their house when they couldn’t find me.
They adopted my friend and it was now my friend’s job to bring them snacks and receive the presents.
This was maybe 6-7 years ago.
I visited London last year. Went to see my friend. The crows all not only recognised me, they tracked me down. We got into my friend’s flat and not twenty minutes later there was chaos on the balcony.
We open the curtains, the entire fucking murder is there shouting because they wanted to see me.
television exists so that lesser known actors can be cast in random mid to decent shows nobody watches where they will deliver astonishing performances potentially superior to anything winning any kind of award for no reason at all
Rumple can poof himself anywhere he wishes but when he sees from the window of his castle that Belle is coming back, he dramatically runs across the room and down a staircase to plop himself at his spinning wheel like he’s been nonchalantly spinning the whole time.
