Eugh. Great, now she was getting double teamed by the whiners over here. And no, Aaravi will not give a second thought to that phrasing, thank you very much.

“It’s getting dark, girl! We’re missing out on primo smores hours over here, while you’re- what, looking for reading material? Why don’t you just borrow one of the bajillion books Joy brought?”

“Because,” Aaravi growled, continuing to methodically pull books out from the bookcase, leaving them in a piled heap on the floor. Hoo boy, she should be glad Joy wasn’t around to see that particular crime against literature.

“This stupid manor has hidden passages. Hidden passages mean there’s a dungeon nearby. And if there’s a dungeon nearby-”

A click. The grinding of wood on stone, as the bookcase slid to the side, revealing a narrow tunnel leading underground.

“That means there’s loot. So what do you say, Milo- wanna get some sick bling to spice up those selfies?”

That and act as her metaphorical canary in the metaphorical mine shaft. Hey- when you know the literal personification of death, what better way to use that connection but as an early warning system for danger?

It seemed like no matter how much the two bickered about how long things were taking Aaravi was determined as ever to figure out just what lied in this manor. ‘ Ah, just be careful if one of those hidden passages lead to a trap ‘ They had known well enough that if there were these passages, there were also bound to be booby traps. Milo glanced up from their phone, only to find the shelf they were standing infront of almost emptied, books scattered around their feet.

‘ Ah, I’ll let you have some of my time though, I’ll just have to disappoint my fans with an explanation that I got dragged along on some wild goose hun- ‘ Their words caught off as they heard the click come from the bookshelf.

‘ Oh lucky us, do you not see any death traps past there? ‘ Not like they were overly worried, he was the personification of death after all. Though they would admit that the mention of finding “loot” and spicing up their selfies intrigued them.

‘ But yes, let’s check it out. Quite the victory selfie we can take together if we indeed find any of this treasure you’ve been speaking of. ‘

With Miranda scooting up near him on the log as the students gathered around the campfire for another rousing night of roasting marshmallows and  teen gossip, was Milo of course too absorbed in his own social life to even notice her at first. It was however when she spoke up, asking about Patreon that their attention was caught. ‘ Ah, my dear Miri I’m so glad you asked~ ‘ They hummed, bringing down their phone after taking a picture, and quickly uploading it before brining all attention to the princess next to him. ‘ It’s exactly that! Some people have tiers, listing things they’ll do for fans if they give you a certain amount of money, which usually is the best way to entice fans to give you more and more. ‘

Currently they were only using their cellphone as a flashlight, but to be honest, they wern’t really paying attention to what was even going on...Or what the former demon slayer was even looking for this time. ‘ There’s hardly any good lighting in here to get any proper selfies and it’s already been five minutes since I last posted one. How long is this going to take? ‘

      The accursed waves taunt her, wind-pulled waves lapping so gently at the shore, teasing the fine slope of soft sand in the space between the bank and the grass she still stands on, glaring at the freshwater. Such a cruel evil, a sick fate to befall the princess. Even Milo wasn’t helping, a fact which Miranda felt all the worse about with their extremely photogenic face and truly inspiring demeanor, for all the sweet promises the lake offered, all of the fun she could be having, feeling the deep insistence of instinct that she should get in the water, that that was where she belonged. 

      But she knew better. It was a beautiful, horrible trap, like animals being drawn in towards a tar pit only to end up hopelessly stuck. Even if she did give in to a quick dip, what all could she do in just five minutes? That was hardly enough time to properly swim anywhere, do anything. Not to mention the sheer fact of how much freshwater she was already around, running her nerves high, not trusting herself to overdo it.

      “You also lack gills and cannot die, Milo.” Voice was curt, even as she crossed her arms over her bathing suit ( damn being lured out, even though most of her clothing was water-ready to begin with, save for the off land-made piece in her wardrobe ), dutiful serfs setting up a lounge for her to at least soak up some sunlight on, far away from the water’s edge. “And I should hate to make you work overtime. Are you not supposed to be taking a break right now, as well? Anyhow, my account does not need any further traction - but thank you, my dear.”

‘ Oh, then if you don’t mind I will properly take any followers of yours with this picture of yours~ ‘ Yes, they were indeed still assuming that Miranda was going to go near the dreaded shore for a quick picture for them to post to their social media. The princess simply was the perfect focus for a picture at the lake, though if she was trying to get him to take the picture of himself rather than of her to keep her out of this.... ‘ Mmm, but if you do say that then why not kill two birds with one stone? ‘ Their tone mused melodically as they got up from the chair they had been lounging about in, scrolling through their social media; hot summer pics were definatly in right now, so what a better time to post some beach pics!  Walking twords the bubblegum merprincess did their free hand reach out to take her hand (even if it were by force), giving a small tug with a charming smile they certainly would hope would be so alluring that Miranda couldn’t say no! ‘ We could take a selfie then together, or get one of your lovely serfs to take one for us~ Think of it as a collab! ‘

‘ Come now Miri, I don’t think the water is going to kill you. ‘ It seemed like despite her wishes, the Merprincess was brought to the lake and wasn’t very happy about it at all. However for Milo that didn’t seem to bother him at all- or atleast the only thing that did bother him was that he wouldn’t be able to sneak a shot of the gorgeous Vanderbilt in her natural habitat of the water. What a shame it was that they didn’t even know about her extreme distaste for the freshwater, thus why she was throwing a royal fit. ‘ Come now, even if you get just close enough into it to give a cute pose you can’t image the amount of attraction that’d gain m- I mean you on Instagram! You....do have an account, right? ‘ >
