How I Started as a Freelancer After Dropping Out of College.
I dropped out of Marketing career because nothing I was seeing at work matched with what I was learning, looked like Marketing history to me.
I worked in the call center industry and learned a lot, plus, improved my English for over 4 years while doing a Digital Marketing Certification. I started to do my research, getting ahold of what was out there for remote working and I landed in Upwork which was smaller than Elance which is where I had my first freelancer job.
My first client paid me $140 a month for a simple Facebook editorial calendar with image and content, I later changed jobs to a Virtual Assistance Agency in which I stayed for 6 months; I left because I got my first UpWork client which only wanted part-time but it overlay with my schedule so I took the risk.
There I was with a month ahead to look for a 3rd client or I was under my normal income. It took me about 13 days to get not one but two clients. It was the first time I felt an extreme and overwhelming sense of achievement.
I made my first calendar to meet all hours and started to get paid at Upwork. That was in 2015.
Now (Nov 2018) I have a team on Slack and a good client portfolio.
Plus I’ve been able to travel, I visited a client in Dubai and now settling in Spain.
