“Enough to graduate summa cum laude from Harvard law.” She stated, her tone bored and factual rather than self promoting. She shrugged her shoulders easily, brushing off the insult. “Perhaps. Spending Daddy’s money has always been delightful.” She smiled kindly. 

She sighed, her eyes rolling lazily. “Daddy has friends who own production companies.” She refused to allow the man anymore insight on her knowledge of him. The less people knew about her personal life within Bates the better.

 “I was giving you the option to be polite, when it was obvious you weren’t going to be I changed tactics. It’s called efficiency.”

“I don’t think, I know.” She challenged back, her eyes unwavering as they bore into his. This was a battle of wills, a game Rebecca was far too familiar with. As he caught her wrist she circled it, easily breaking his grasp and moving to twirl her hair around her finger in the next movement. 

“I guess we’ll have fun being nameless then, Mr.Naeem.” She smiled once again, never missing a beat. Giving him an opportunity to introduce himself was the polite thing to do but with his standing in the music industry it was silly to think she didn’t recognize him. Daddy had friends who owned the biggest record labels in the world after all.

Rebecca tilted her head, a sweet smile still prominent. “On my knees?” She asked, her eyes twinkling with the challenge. “So we can see eye to eye?” She said gesturing a single, perfectly manicured finger between them. She knew how to deal with men like him, keep them on their toes, never let them see you thinking of a reply.

 “Say, what’s your name anyway?”

The blonde looked thoroughly unimpressed. She had never liked when people used their wealth to excuse their shitty personalities but she was curious as to who exactly this guy was. He certainly wasn’t part of her family’s circle. 

“In order to mimic Blair Waldorf those books and the subsequently terribly written tv show would’ve had to be on my radar which they weren't, at least not until college.” She shrugged, unaffected by the man’s would-be insult. She couldn’t help the giggle that erupted from her as she listened to his thinly veiled threat. 

“Oh, I would absolutely love to see you try.” She sat next to the man and smiled. She had always enjoyed sparring with someone who could match her biting tone and wit. “Tell me, where do you think I belong? What’s your assessment of me, oh high one.”

“Have you lost your sense of common curtesy?” The blonde rolled her eyes as she ran a hand through her hair. “I just meant that smoking is so... pedestrian. Considering you have an illegal substance and the attitude of an entitled prink I’m assuming you paid to be here, I’m just wondering why someone rich enough to pay two million dollars on a sex vacation would bother with that.” She gestured with her hand to the man. 

“Now, if you plan on continuing to treat me like one of the pets you should at least make me cum first.” Her voice was dripping with saccharine sweetness, a smug and sarcastic smile firmly in place.

“With as much as I paid to be here I’d hope this isn’t the only one.” She giggled quietly behind her hand. She turned her head to look down at the shorter girl. “I’m so rude! I haven’t even told you my name and here I am chatting your ear off. My name is Rebecca Buchanan.”

       SMOKE BILLOWED IN the air, hung thick around the male as he sat and immersed himself in the stench of burning weed. His attention was at nothing at all, blunt rolling between his fingers absently as he tried to figure out how he felt now that Yasmin was actually gone. Orion had wanted it for weeks, but letting it sink in, there was something empty in him now that he had realised only she could fill. A heavy sigh passed his lips, all his negative feelings going out with the breath of air, and he was too wraped in his thoughts to notice anyone or anything else for the moment.

Rebecca coughed a bit as she walked by the man, she had always avoided smoking. Getting caught would’ve meant hell from the tabloids that watched her every move when she was a teen. Being labeled the troubled heiress would surely have sent her father to an early grave.

Rebecca hummed her appreciation as she continued to examine the painting in front of her. “I’ll have to check out the library then. You wouldn’t be able to point me in the right direction, would you?”

Rebecca hummed in affirmation and reached to point out different features on the painting. “Here’s the signature, see?” she asked as she glanced back at the girl, “It’s bolder than the rest of the painting because it used multiple brush strokes in the same direction, and then,” she gestured to another part of the painting, “you can see the overlap of paints. It’s way easier to tell an authentic oil painting from a fake. My mom loves art so daddy bought her an art gallery for their anniversary a couple years ago. I know all about this sort of stuff.” 

She smiled brightly as she finished speaking and seemed to bounce over to the girl.

Rebecca giggled at the man’s observation. “I’ve just arrived but everyone seems a little uptight, like they really need a shiatsu massage.” She huffed as she crossed her arms, her head lulling to the side. “Do you like it?”

“Oh! I forgot you can’t just go to the pool or the beach by yourself.” Rebecca pouted at the thought, her bottom lip jutting out before smiling brightly. “Living in the house during my undergrad was totally like that. Our house mom didn’t let us do anything fun, but what she didn’t know didn’t hurt her.” 

Her jaw dropped open dramatically before quickly reaching for her phone. “Oh my god, I love the 1975. Matty is kind of a dick but..” She trailed off with a nonchalant shrug of her shoulders. “What other music do you like?”

“It seems kind of silly to me, really. Everyone would probably be a lot less grumpy if they gave you guys iPods.” She rolled her eyes, she understood the isolation and lack of outside contact but no one was going to try and escape because they played the Billboard top 100. 

“I have my phone. We could listen to music together! I just had brunch with Matt Healy the other day. He sent me their newest song. Do you like the 1975?” Rebecca asked excitedly. She had a tendency to ramble when she met new people.

“I would really love to have an iPod or something else to do while I’m in the dorm room. I would love to be able to listen to music and everything.”

“I don’t think I could live without music.” Rebecca said, her head shaking lightly at the thought. “I would just die.”

Rebecca shook out her long, blonde hair as she smiled at the appearance of the common room. The large archways and marble accents reminded her of her grandparents mansion in Great Neck. 

“I can’t believe they actually have an original Monet here, but I guess they’re not exactly budget friendly.” She giggled quietly at her own joke as she reached to pull off her dark sunglasses.
