Remember all the way back to the middle of May when I put the call out to all the boozy crafters in the world for the Art of Patrón bottle art contest?! And then I made my own piece of “art”, and was pretty proud of myself… Just look at that little fox! (I’m clearly still pretty …

I was in the local newspaper, the Hunterdon County Democrat, last Sunday!
BETHLEHEM TWP. — There will be no crying over spilt tequila for this New Jersey woman.
Beating out hundreds in Patron Spirits Company's second annual bottle art competition, 36-year-old Rebecca Stoneback will receive $10,000 for her stunning creation made from recycled glass.
Stoneback's submission, "La Abeja," Spanish for "The Bee," is an 18-inch-long necklace of 60 glass pieces featuring a tiny bee-shaped bottle filled with tequila.
After smashing the bottle, she heated the shards to 950 degrees Fahrenheit in her kiln, a process called soaking, then used a special rod to sculpt the melted glass into shape.
The 1997 North Hunterdon High School graduate learned her craft from master glassworkers on the Venetian island of Murano in Italy. She returned to the U.S. and continued her apprenticeship with glass artists around the country. (Click through for the rest of the article)
The Patrón Spirits Company announced the Grand Prize winner of their second annual “Art of Patrón” Bottle Art Competition, the brand’s signature program designed to underscore the artistry of their hand-crafted tequilas; as well as incorporating other artful pursuits, including the culinary arts, mixology and cocktails, music and culture, and the Patrón bottle. The “Art of Patrón” contest encourages fans and artisans to incorporate Patrón’s signature bottles as artistic inspiration for a chance to win $10,000.
Demonstrating that “Jersey Girls” do indeed rule, Rebecca Stoneback of Asbury, New Jersey, was selected from nine other finalists as the winner for her entry “La Abeja,” a one-of-a-kind necklace representing the more than 60 hands it takes to make Patrón’s iconic bottles. Seeing the other finalists, this Examiner noted “La Abeja” was the clear frontrunner destined to win. (Click through for the rest of the article)
I won!
The Art of Patron 2015 Grand Prize Winner
Necklace made from tequila bottle could lead to $10,000 prize.
BETHLEHEM TWP. — Smashing a perfectly good bottle of Patron tequila could lead some to tears, but the violent act could net township artist Rebecca Stoneback $10,000.
The 35-year-old Stoneback is one of 10 artists who beat out hundreds of others to reach the finalist stage in Patron Spirits Company's second bottle art competition. Now through Aug. 23, adults 21 and over can visit Patron's website and vote for their favorite entries, all created from the company's signature glass bottle. Besides the $10,000, the lucky winner gets national bragging rights.
Stoneback's submission is "La Abeja," Spanish for "The Bee," an 18-inch-long necklace of 60 glass pieces featuring a tiny bee-shaped bottle filled with tequila. The piece is so delicate that Stoneback eschewed shipping it to Patron offices in Manhattan. Instead, she hopped a train in High Bridge and hand-carried it. I’m currently working on getting my store up and running. The best way to know when the store is up is to sign up for my mailing list. There will be very few emails and all will be important. No spam.
Thank you so much,
